Stear Clear. Worst rental experience ever. Zero customer service. Non-communicative owner.
Don’t stay here. We booked 9 nights and were sorely disappointed. We found the room dirty and in ill repair. When we notified the owner, including photos documenting the condition of the unit, his only response was to forward our complaint to the maid service. Issues were a combination of cleanliness and condition, with the owner ultimately responsible. Subsequent contact was not returned.
Pictures of the living area are not representative (blue couch with pink flowers). Living room furniture was the absolute worst – worse than a frat couch – filthy, ripped, hot-glue patched and erupting stuffing. I literally was scared to sit on it for fear I’d carry something home. LR chair was also patched and busted. Walls had dust hanging on them (fans and light chains too) & had spills/splatters that needed to be wiped down. Patio screen was ripped. Some of the outlets didn’t work. There was no working drain stopper in the BA. Refrigerator handles were painted over – not sure why…. While they were at it, it would have been helpful if someone could have painted degree settings on the oven knob – they were missing. We had to eyeball setting the oven for anything above 300.
This unit is tired and outdated. Décor I can deal with. Forking over nearly $XXXX.XX for a room in this condition and zero customer service I cannot. One’s first clue from this owner & his website - there is no contact number listed. All correspondence was via email.
I feel sorry for those already booked. Unless this unit gets some TLC, they don’t know what they’re in for. There are far nicer units at this resort and in West Maui that are priced same range or less, with owners who care about their unit and their guests. Maui Dream Condo? I think not.
Owner's Response: After over 20 years, we have one unhappy guest. We are the owners of NS 240 and are pleased to report that we and many guests have enjoyed our one bedroom spot in paradise. The Aloha spirit is sponsored by the staff and most of the guests. We rarely have guests that refuse to let it catch on.
We spent most of April 2013 on Maui and have refurnished the unit with two easy chairs with ottomans, a queen sofa bed, cleaned the carpets, replaced the lanai lounge cushions and reupholstered other chairs and pillows. It has a new island look.
There is internet service, flat screen TV, DVD player, and a fully equipped kitchen. Our on island agents schedule deep cleaning twice a year, unless requested sooner by a guest. We do rely on our guests to tell us if something out of order and we respond quickly. Our photos on the website are current.
We have received many letters of enjoyment and appreciation from new and repeat guests. The trick in Maui is to leave troubles home and rejoice in the wonder of the island and sea. Mahalo and have a great vacation. Norm & Sue Hill
