Take the free public trolley to go anywhere on the island day and night. Or rent a bike, boat, kayak, or scooter and go anywhere you want around the island, coast or bay.
Restaurants offer a variety of fares, from fresh seafood to German to world class BBQ and pizza (Mr. Bones and Omas). And everything is close by!
This is the sport fishing capital of the world - get in on the action. Contact the chamber of commerce for a list of captains operating off the island, or look in the yellow pages for a full listing of the area.

Want to get closer to nature? Visit nearby Myakka Sate Park, Florida's largest. Take an airboat ride, or rent a canoe, and see gators and wildlife up close. Or just take a picnic to enjoy under the Spanish moss at a sheltered rest site.
