Guestbook comments from the manager

After a long flight over the Pacific Ocean, the Nakano apartment was the perfect place to settle in to. Makoto-san made the check-in process a breeze, and made sure that we had everything that we needed and showed us how to use everything properly. Staying at the Nakano apartment is highly recommended. During our two week stay, the three of us were able to experience a side of Tokyo that we never would have seen if we had stayed at a hotel. We frequented the nearby supermarket very often and were able to make and try a wide range of new cuisine in the comforts of our own space. The apartment was furnished with all the necessary amenities and is located in a very quiet and convenient area. We have recommended this apartment to all of our friends who are planning to visit Tokyo. And we’re definitely staying here again when we visit this winter! Arigatou Makoto-san for everything!

Excellent location and service

  • 5 of 5

We went to Japan in Spring 2015 (just in time for the cherry blossoms !) and were looking for a nice, well-located and priceworthy apartment in Tokyo - and this flat was all of this. While a bit tight for the both of us (we let the sofabed constantly on bed position, which made moving around the room a tad complicated, but as we were out during the day and most of the evenings, this was not much of an issue), it was well furnished and provided everything we needed. It was also very conveniently located - Nakano JR station (and Tokyo metro station) was only 5mn by foot, and offered very good connections to both the Tokyo metro and the JR lines (and being able to take the JR Chuo Line Rapid Express instead of the local train makes it really faster, so that's a major plus for the accessibility). The area is also full with little shops, restaurants and convenient stores, which makes it really easy to buy food and other necessities; the Nakano Broadway also delighted my geek of a boyfriend, so that can't be recommended enough for Otaku fans. And - last but not least - Makoto was very helpful, both before and during our stay, and gave us many explanations and maps about Tokyo and surroundings, so that we could fully enjoy our trip. Recommended !

Great Location

  • 4 of 5

It's taken awhile to write this review; thought I had done it before. It was a great location, about a 5 minute walk to the station. Great little shopping mall nearby. A convenience store a couple blocks away. Quick subway trip to anywhere, really. The Miyasaki museum is a couple of stops away. Makoto-san was very helpful; met us at the station and walked us to the apartment. He was very efficient in the preparation for our visit, making sure we knew the train lines etc. We had a tiny mix up in the meeting, but communicated through Whattsapp. I'd stay there again.

Amazing Location. Apartment, and Service

  • 5 of 5

I've stayed in these apartments 3 times in a row for about a month each time. I love the the location which is situated in a nice residential neighborhood that makes you feel like you're really living in Japan as opposed to a tourist centric hotel. There are places to eat, a supermarket, and even an arcade open past midnight. There are also many stores close by for everyday necessities. For those interested in anime, Nakano Broadway is a 5 minute walk away, filled with stores selling manga and anime good. Akihabara is also only 20 minutes away.

The apartment had everything that I needed. I enjoyed being able to watch Japanese television on my downtime and the free WiFi. There was also a stove, microwave, and toaster oven for cooking along with all the utensils needed.

My contact, Makoto (all 3 times), met with me at the train station, showed me the way to the apartment, and even helped carry my luggage on the way back. He also provided me with an adapter for the electrical sockets. On one trip he even let me stay past the normal check out time because my plane wasn't until almost midnight and on several occasions I was allowed an early check in when coming in on an early plane.

I've had a wonderful experience each stay and I'm currently booking for a fourth time.

Amazing stay, can't recommend enough

  • 5 of 5

It's been several months since we visited, but I realized today that I had never written a review and they definitely deserve one. This is both a review for the apartment as well as Makoto-san. We flew to Tokyo the day of the major earthquake earlier this year and arrived the day after. Things were, understandably, hectic and many services were shut down. We were luckily able to find an alternate train to take us into the city since the main Narita Express was not in service. Makoto-san had been working and waiting for us to arrive, even through all of the service disruptions, and was able to meet us and get us settled into the apartment that night. He had been up for a very long time and we can't express how grateful we are for helping us. Quite frankly, I would only expect this kind of hospitality from very close friends and he went above and beyond to be there for us when we arrived. We honestly can't express how much this meant to us.

Sadly, because a lot of services around Tokyo were offline or had interrupted service (most museums, some local trains, the shinkansen, etc) to conserve resources and most of our vacation plans had been cancelled, we decided the best thing to do was to not waste resources for those who needed them and to head home. Our families were also very worried, so it only made sense. We wound up leaving after only a few days into our trip. Makoto-san was very easy to work with in making sure we were able to get out of the apartment quickly. We tried to leave it the same as it was when we came and I hope we did so.

The apartment itself was extremely nice and in great area. Because we were trying to conserve resources for everyone else by not taking the trains when we didn't need to, we got to explore Nakano fairly extensively and were very happy. The shops around the apartment were very fun and hospitable and offered a lot in the way of experiencing Tokyo as it is experienced by the residents who live there. We can't recommend this apartment enough and, I would assume, any of those that are managed by Makoto-san and his company.

While we were sad to cut our stay short, we will without a doubt be returning. We weren't able to do most of the things we had planned, but it truly was a life changing event even in those few days. Hopefully we'll be returning in the very near future (we're already planning a return trip) and will be meeting Makoto-san again!

Nakano for the win!

  • 5 of 5

The apartment in Nakano was awesome; really close to the station - super enjoyable walk through the neighborhood and through Nakano Broadway - some super interesting stores around (Don Quijote!), and good, cheap and quick restaurants nearby. Property was clean, and apart from some trouble with the fold-out bed initially (thanks, Makoto, for coming back to help us with that!), we had no troubles during our week in Nakano. Great customer service! I'd definitely return again, and our stay has convinced me that were I move to Tokyo, Nakano would definitely be the top neighborhood to consider. I just wish there were more places to grab a quick crepe before running to the station!
