We wanted to be 'Right on the beach'.
Fantastic views, sunsets, and watching the wildlife, especially the seals sunning themselves on the rocks just off our beach.
WOW!!! What an incredible week we had at your home away from home. The house was perfect for us and we felt like we owned it for a week. At the end of the day to climb into your pristine hot tub and relax as we listened to the ocean sooth us, blessed us. Having all the movies was so exciting. We could pick a nice wholesome movie for our kids and relax at the table and play cards. What else could we say about this place? (A group of sixteen.)
My husband, myself and our two Yorkshire Terriers loved our stay at the ocean again this year. This was our first stay in this paticular home and it was just as advertised. The owners are very accomodating, but you hardly know they are in the adjoining residence upstairs. We had fires in the fireplace almost every night. The owners supplied the wood. There are tons of DVD's to choose from for your viewing pleasure. The walks on the beach are priceless. The backyard is very private. I would definitely stay again and would recommend it to others.
A simple communication issue, on short notice, resulted in the rental not being fully serviced upon arrival, (which as adequately addressed). I'll refer to 'what's important to us:
1) Pet Friendly: YES (bring your dog beds, and clean-up after your pets, out of respect for the owners, who allow them)
2) Ocean-Front: YES (beautiful)
3) Adequate Internet (to work while on vacation): YES, 60MB download, unsecured Wi-Fi.
4) Privacy: YES
5) Value: The only issue that kept us from 5*: We've rented like accommodations, ocean-front, mid-week, from $130/night elsewhere. A one-size, fits-all rate may work 60% of the time, however, if you wish a 90+% occupancy rate, market it accordingly.
We LOVED staying at this house in Brookings. It has taken me a long time to get on here to write the review (sorry, Ken & Jean!). We reserved this home on VRBO, upon arrival the home was clean and ready for us to use. The owners, Ken & Jean, were very nice and accomodating. We are originally from Brookings and came down to visit family, our family has many children and dogs...none of which were a problem to have at the house with us throughout the weekend. We had an amazing storm one of the days/nights. Then the next two days were absolutely beautiful weather! We were able to see whales out on the ocean, a few seals came up to lay on the rocks near the beach, a flock of about 30 pelicans flew close by, an osprey fishing, and a bald eagle that must live in one of the trees graced us with it's beauty. Our family played baseball and horseshoes down on the beach, we also checked out the tidepools when the tide was out. The selection of movies you have there were amazing for the kiddos, they loved them!
It was just an amazing experience! We look forward to coming back (hopefully March 2015, we have our first baby due in April and would love to come stay there and have our shower there) to stay at your lovely home. Thank you so much for the wonderful memories we were able to create and your generous hospitality. Your home is beautiful and exceeded our expectations by far!
We stayed for 3 nights and wish it had been longer. It was perfect for the 8 adults and 4 kids in our group. Will be back for sure. Favorite place on the coast!
We took a last minute trip up the pacific coast highway to end up in Brookings, OR. Even thought it rained the entire time we were there, the home was a great place to get away from the every day and spend time as a family.
We truly enjoyed the private hot tub, trail to the coast, and letting our dogs run free on the beach! Our 11 month old son had a ball exploring the home and playing with stacks of games.
Ken was an amazing host! I was nervous about staying in the bottom floor of the owners home, however they were very kind and were available when we needed them!
We stayed here last weekend with friends and it was so relaxing - one of the best times we've had together. There were two couples, each with a young child, and the space was perfect for our needs. Ken was a wonderful host; never obtrusive, always helpful. He and Jean have created a wonderful space. You can tell that they enjoy hosting. And they have a HUGE video selection...fun!
The beach is just steps away with tide pools galore. The entire front of the house has an oceanview. It was fun to wake up in the morning hearing and seeing the ocean right in front of you. The hot tub was clean and in great condition.
We were grateful for their washing machine and dryer...it got plenty of use with our small toddler!
We will definitely be back. Thank you Ken and Jean. :)
