Beautiful, Peaceful Oasis on the Hudson River

Deb E New Mexico
Review Submitted: November 16, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2007
This was the perfect space to relax during our time in New York. We came to present a seminar in NYC and found respite and rest out of NYC in this peaceful haven. Sitting in the veranda gazing at the fall foliage, the boats passing, and the river flowing was pure delight. The apartment was immaculate, functional and as a another reviewer stated cozy.

Sara and Roul were thoughtful, we found breakfast food and all that we needed in the morning. They were both helpful in answering all of our questions, and left us to be in privacy. The weather changed overnight and Roul had the heat going by the next afternoon. They were both warm, friendly, and caring about are comfort.

It is a short walk/dirve to the Village of Hastings on the Hudson, which is delightful in its mix of charm, ethnic foods, services, and resturants.

If we were to return to NY we would book again this wonderful space.

Thank you Sara and Roul. Ciao! Deb and Cherie

Christmas Holidays at River Terrace

Peter, Ute & Jan Oberkotzau, Bavaria, Germany
Review Submitted: January 10, 2009 Date of Stay: December 2008
We enjoyed our stay in the apartment during the Christmas Holidays. The apartment was clean and the owners Sara and Roul were very friendly and helpful. They welcomed us with some fruits and groceries in the refrigerator, which was very helpful because of Christmas Day. There is a ten minute walk to the next Metro North railway station and a half an hour walk to Hastings on Hudson to the nearest supermarket (bus traffic is also available). We can recommend the flat to people who will see NYC and recover from the noise of NYC at night in this warm and cozy apartment.

Our Stay in Hastings on Hudson

Patrick&Linda Dublin, Ireland
Review Submitted: November 4, 2008 Date of Stay: October 2008
We stayed at this property for a week in October 2008. It is a lovely two bed room apartment with a terrace and access to a garden which overlooks the Hudson River with beautiful views to the Pallisade Cliffs across in New Jersey. It is an excellent base to use to explore the towns of the Hudson Valley or if one wants to travel in to New York City. The train line actually runs along by the river and the station is a 10 minute walk from the apartment. The journey into Grand Central takes approximately 30 minutes.

The town of Hastings on Hudson is a 3 minute drive and it has a supermarket for all your grocery needs as well as a range of restaurants and diners. We thought that Maud's Tavern, just across from the town library was particularly good.

Sara and Raul, the owners of the property were very helpful and pleasant to us throughout our stay, answering any queries we had about the local area. We would definitely recommend this apartment as a base for your visit to New York City and the Hudson Valley area.

A View from the Patio - Breathless / Awesome

Rose & Don Palm Harbor, Florida
Review Submitted: July 9, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
This cozy, functional, bright and clean apartment needs no improvements.
The view of the house from the street tells you it is charming house inside as it is outside. The alfresco dining area overlooks the scenic Palisades Cliffs and Hudson River a fantastic view whether you are dining via candlelight or having your morning coffee watching the boats and ferries - or perhaps watching the children in the play area. My husband and I felt right at home, as well as our grand nieces, nephews, friends and other family members. On one day I was getting the recycle material in the bins, I exchanged "Good mornings" with a female walker, she told me, "You have a beautiful garden". I told her I would tell the lady of the house since I was a guest.
Sara, everyone admires your beautiful garden.
Sara & Roel (owners) are very hospitable, and informative regarding the areas sights and events - Sara always making sure we were OK - I must say even her children wanted to help us get settled in on our first day. We thank you for that !
We would absolutely recommend this charming, cozy abode to everyone - in fact we have ! Our stay was much too short - but that's because we were visiting other states.
Since we are former New Yorkers we did not take in the sights, anyone who does won't be disappointed, there is lots to do and public transportation is very accessible.
Our next stay will be longer - and it will not be a secret planned visit from my husband !!
We say not "Goodbye" to Sara, but we say,
"See you next year" !!

Spring in Westchester

Review Submitted: April 21, 2008 Date of Stay: April 2008
We've stayed here three times over the last year and have enjoyed each time immensely seeing the magnificent views in different seasons. Great hosts, Sara and Roel will ensure you have an enjoyable stay. Apartment is especially good if you want to mix New York city sights with some relaxation away from the hustle and bustle of NYC. Also, with a roomy garden and lots of kiddie things in the garden it is particularly good for young families. Local buses using the same travel cards as NYC will get you to some of the attractive local tourist sights (Kykuit, Sunnyside, etc.) if you do not have a car. Nice and airy al fresco style in summer yet also cozy in the winter. For all these reasons we return time and time again.
