Quiet location

The house is located just slightly at the back, and to the left, of the large Thomson's hotel. The grounds around the pool area are very nice and well kept. This house has no steps (some others do) so it was good that the children didn't have to keep climbing up and down. You couldn't go directly from your door to the pool as there was a small hedge but it was only a few yards to walk round the path. This did give the front patio some privacy. There was also a patio at the back of the property with washing line and further patio furniture. This got the early morning sun, and looked out over waste land. Only a small wall separating you from next door so not private at all. I think a few shrubs along the dividing wall would have been nice to give some privacy. The house was very spacious, more room than we expected and nicely kept. The two upper bedrooms were excellent with a large balcony sharing between the two - this overlooked the pool. A nice large bathroom upstairs too. Lots of cooking facilities, glasses, plates etc and a large fridge freezer. There was a Internet connection but we didn't take a lap-top. The bedroom downstairs wasn't as nice as the rooms upstairs, being at the back of the house it was quite dark, but still adequate for two adults. Again the downstairs bathroom wasn't as nice. The shower in the downstairs bathroom wasn't very good so we didn't use it at all. It was lovely to have a downstairs loo though, with the children coming in and out from the pool. The air conditioning was a great bonus and you could have it on as much as you liked. The house was plenty large enough for 6 people and it was clean and well kept. It was in a quiet location as it was right at the top of the road, set back in it's own little complex.
About a 5 min walk took you to the main road where there were some shops, not many though. Down some steep steps and you were on the beach. A wonderful beach with a sweeping bay, a steep climb down the steps so not for the disabled. If you have a car it's not a problem as you can park right next to the beach at the White Sands end of Arenal. 10 minuets walk brings you to the Agumarina Hotel. This is geared for children with entertaining on in the evenings. As long as you buy a drink you can use the facilities. We found Arenal a little too spread out. The owners were very obliging and nice to deal with, and gave us an early check in.
