About Property Managers: Shawn and Jeanette Lawson (Kiawah Island Getaways)
Shawn's family discovered Kiawah in 1978 and returned year after year for two-week vacations. In 1985 we drove our VW Bug convertible to Kiawah and Shawn introduced me to Kiawah. I remember stepping over the dune boardwalk out in front of the Kiawah Island Inn and seeing Kiawah's wide, sandy beach for the first time - it was so brilliant it practically danced before my eyes. It was during this vacation that the two of us decided to set our sights on moving to this beautiful and fascinating place permanently.
In 1988 our dreams came true and our U-Haul rattled across the Kiawah Island bridge (at that time it was nothing more than a wood-planked bridge). For the next four years we rented a 1-bedroom villa, 4251 Mariner's Watch. Shawn was so thrilled to be living on the island that he spent the additional money required for the personalized South Carolina license plate 'KIAWAH' (which we still own today).
In 1992, we built our first home on the island at 134 Conifer Lane. During construction, I gave birth to our first son Benjamin - he arrived 2 months early in an ambulance outside of the Kiawah Island Fire Station.
In 2001, we purchased our first villa, a 1-bedroom, beachside Seascape (3563) and Kiawah Island Getaways was born. Once we got our feet wet with the villa rental business, it was a like a fever for us. We both really enjoyed furnishing, decorating and maintaining the villas - not to mention the new found fun of meeting and talking to all sorts of people about Kiawah. Because we really enjoy what we do, other Kiawah Property Owners noticed and we started managing their properties as well.
Our whole family loves Kiawah and running Kiawah Island Getaways is a true family-run business. We personally prepare each villa prior to your arrival - because we want your stay to be perfect. We want you to fall in love with Kiawah too...and we know you will!!
The Beach Cottage at Mariners Watch is the perfect place to spend a quiet beach vacation with your family on Kiawah. It has a wooded-view and is an easy 2-minute walk from the beach. Clean, comfortable and professionally decorated.
Very clean and comfortable-even smelled good when we first walked in. Loved the porch
and so glad we had a washer/dryer. Beach is very close - a five minute walk. Would definitely stay here again.
The Beach Cottage is a perfect villa for a couple visiting Kiawah Island to enjoy the beach, the golf, the beautiful natural surroundings, and bike riding on the 30 miles of bike trails. The cottage is just across the street from the beach, a short walk, so you can go back and forth with ease, and convenient to several golf courses. The Beach Cottage is outfitted with everything you would need for two people in the kitchen, in the bath, and supplied with 2 beach chairs, 2 beach towels, coolers, and other items. There is a screened porch to enjoy a cool vista from the chairs overlooking the natural vegetation of palms and oaks behind the cottage, refreshing after a hot beach day! The Beach Cottage décor is comfortable, casual, stylish, updated, immaculate and just perfect! You can watch TV on the flat screen, relax on the sofa, dine at the table for four, read on the screened porch, and sleep peacefully in the queen bedroom. The vaulted ceiling in the main room makes the cozy cottage feel more expansive. The beach cottage is on the second floor of two floors, and was a very quiet location. There is space for one small child (sofabed). The arrangements to stay at this property are very easy to accomplish and the owners delightful to work with. Shopping is convenient to the villa at Freshfields Village, about four miles away, just off the island. Visiting Charleston, the friendliest city in America, is about 35 minutes away. Five stars for The Beach Cottage!
Beautiful condo with fantastic amenities! The beach is truly a 1 minute walk away, while the back porch looks over the marsh!
This is our second vacation on Kiawah. Both times we have booked accomodations through Kiawah Island Getaways. The Beach Cottage is decorated beautifully, so comfortable and close to the beach. The Lawson's go above and beyond making your stay a great one. Both villas we have stayed in have been stocked with just about anything you could think of.
They are friendly, thorough, prompt and organized when making your reservations.
I higly recommend a stay with Kiawah Island Getaways. It is vacation lodging at it's finest.
This villa was beautifully appointed and felt like home! Truly is only 1 minute from the beach - the walkway is right outside your door. We stayed here with our toddler son and it was a perfect fit for a family with one child. It was very clean and the screened in porch made for a beautiful seating for dinner and coffee every night. Would highly recommend!
Our first impression of the Beach Cottage was that is was a lot larger than we thought it would be from the photos. It greatly exceeded our expectations. It was very clean and the furnishings were top notch. The bedding, the furniture, the appliances and the décor all reflected the exceptional good taste of the owners. The condo was completely stocked with everything we needed for our week’s stay. Kiawah Island Getaways was easy to work with and provided all kinds of tips and suggestions to make our stay extremely enjoyable. The location provided very easy access to the beach and a short walk to the market. We would not hesitate to book through Kiawah Island Getaways for our next trip to the Island.
