Located four miles from downtown Bar Harbor and one and-a-half miles from the entrance to Acadia National Park, this spacious post and beam house overlooking a pristine meadow provides a perfect environment for you and your family to spend your vacation. The house is set well back from Route 3 providing a safe and private place for kids to play and adults to relax, while still providing easy access to the attractions of the island. The L.L. Bean Island Explorer bus is free of charge and will pick you up at the end of the driveway to take you into town, Acadia National Park, or anywhere else on the island you wish to go, and drop you off at the end of the day. The interior of the house is beautifully hand-crafted post and beam with nine-foot ceilings. The master bedroom is upstairs and has its own private bathroom. The South side has numerous windows, allowing for natural light during the days while you are relaxing in the living room.
Our home: We have a large deck with patio furniture and gas grill. Horseshoe pit on premises overlooking the beautiful meadow. Large swing set and house for children. Large back lawn.
Local Flavor:: Hold sea creatures from the touch tank and watch seals sunning themselves on the rocks. Relaxing sailing excursions are also available. Take a walk through downtown Bar Harbor, or visit the island's other small fishing villages a short drive away. With many diverse shops, you are sure to find the perfect souvenir for friends and family. Wind down a long day of shopping with a lobster dinner at one of the local restaurants. Experience the Bar Harbor nightlife with live music and locally brewed blueberry ale at any of the friendly bars in town. Check the Island Explorer schedule for a safe ride home. Feel free to ask about activities we have left out.
This was a great vacation home away from home. Beautiful house - well furnished and we didn't need to bring anything. Even things like games for the kids and some stuff to play outside with. Well stocked kitchen too. The backyard was great even though we did not have enough time to enjoy it - we saw deer and turkey in the field. Convenient location to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor.
We would gladly go back on our next trip to Acadia.
Massive rental house with loads of space and privacy. The pictures of the house do not do justice for how beautiful the layout of the house actually is. My family and I were completely blown away with how much space we had. This house had everything we needed to make our first visit to Bar Harbor spectacular. Melanie left detailed directions on what and how to use everything in the house and she was always available when I called with a question.
The backyard is a deer meadow. Every morning we awoke we had deer eating their morning breakfast in the back. Even though the house is located directly off the highway it is situated far enough back that you can not hear any car noises. The house is literally located within 5 miles of Acadia National Park and minutes from downtown Bar Harbor. The location was exactly what we wanted and we were extremely pleased with how quickly we were able to access all our adventures.
The best part was we were allowed to bring our two smallest family members that travel everywhere with us. Our Chihuahua and Maltipoo had the time of their lives romping through the backyard and exploring downtown. The dogs are not allowed upstairs and that was not a problem. There is a bedroom located downstairs so they could sleep beside the bed in the cages and not be nervous about being out of our sight. The upstairs has 3 bedrooms, and 2 full bathrooms.
Absolutely thrilled with he house and I highly recommend this property.
This vacation house is on the top 3 best places we’ve stayed at. The house is very spacious, master bedroom is huge with tall ceilings. All the other rooms are very nice as well. The backyard is huge and with a playground that kids loved. There is also a very nice deck where you can sit and relax. The kitchen has almost all the things you need. Owner is very helpful.
The location is great. It is literally 2 minutes to the park visitor center and 8 min to downtown. Though it is right off highway 3, it is very quiet. I would not hesitate to recommend any of my friends to come here.
If you had to ask me for one complaint, I would say that the living room needs a bit more light. It’s nice to have ambient light but there are also times you want to be able to have a bright-lit place to talk and hangout.
