Thanks Nedra and Dave for the lovely time spent at Brookhaven. Brookhaven has all the comforts of home with the added bonus of peace and quiet that the tranquility of the woods and Hat Creek bring. The kids (17& 21) really enjoyed themselves and found themselves enjoying nature and sitting outside at night with the campfire going while making smores. There was lots to do in the short time we were there and when we are ready to go back to Mt. Lassen we will be sure we look for you again! Thank you for inviting us into your home and for your all your generosity.

Wonderful fishing retreat!

This was a great spot for our 3-generation "Boys' fishing retreat". My Dad and I appreciated the comforts of home and the convenient location. My sons and nephew (ages 8-15) loved the freedom we had to fish right outside our door. Day trips for us included the Subway Cave, Burney Falls, and Lassen Park... it all brought back fond memories of childhood camping and fishing in the area. Everyone caught fish, and we enjoyed them for several meals. Nedra and Dave were attentive and helpful. They even dealt with a surprise "critter" issue promptly and thoroughly! Property is clean, well-maintained, and as-advertised. The boys are already asking when we will visit again.

Great Location

Brookhaven is a home-away-from-home in a quiet Pine forest along the picturesque Hat Creek. We easily caught trout (on salmon eggs) for our evening meal. The location was excellent for our daily explorations which included; McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park, Spatter Cones Trail (morning is best), Subwave Cave (need a flash light), Crystal Lake State Fish Hatchery (strange albino trout), Lassen Volcanic National Park hikes – Manzanita Lake (easy), Lilly Pond Nature Trail (easy), and Paradise Meadow (moderate - follows a creek and has wildflowers later in the year). We missed the Observatory (open M-F) so we will save that for our next visit. Nedra and Dave are very gracious hosts.

Perfect, relaxing get-away. So nice to have all the room for the whole family (6 of us stayed) and be so close to the creek for private fishing. Caught fish every day! Beds were comfortable and house was stocked with everything we needed and more, including magazines and games. We would definitely stay again. Thanks Nedra and Dave. Hope to see the antique store up and running on our next visit.

Owner's Response: Thanks, Kelly and John. We're so happy you had such a good time and we loved the home-made jam! Please ask that sweet daughter of yours to send us a picture or two of the photos she took.

We'll see you again soon.

Pristine mountain getaway

Brookhaven Rest is undoubtedly one of the best vacation homes we've ever stayed in. It's clean and homey and offers a chance to really sample one of the prettiest areas of Northern California In addition to the world-class fishing. The bed (king-sized in master) was just like sleeping at home, the kitchen was extremely well stocked with all the pots, pans, plates, glasses, spices and storage bags that one could ever think about using The deck was inviting and comfortable, furnished with dining table & chairs, umbrella and a large propane BBQ. We spent most of our time outdoors, but I will say that the living room is comfy and inviting with overstuffed leather reclining chairs, a 50" flat-panel TV, a huge coffee table stocked with magazines and a couch that invites an afternoon nap if you're so inclined (I was!). The air was crystal clear and the forest smelled divine. At night the stars felt so close you could almost reach out and touch them. We miss this so much living in the city and it's such a precious commodity. Thank you Dave and Nedra for being such gracious hosts. We will be back!

Owner's Response: Thanks, Diane! You really described the wonders of our special place on Mt Lassen beautifully. There is so much to see and do -- or you can just sit out on the deck and listen to Hat Creek flow by.

We look forward to seeing you and your family again soon...and the next time maybe you can bring your new grandbaby!
