WATERFRONT HOME WITH 4 KAYAKS, NEAR BEST OCEAN BEACHES

Narragansett House Rental Photos and Description

2 bedrooms, 2 baths, sleeps 5

Vacation on Indian Lake--a pristine 200 acre freshwater lake, less than 10 minutes from Narragansett Pier and the state's best ocean beaches. Swim, kayak, fish, and bird watch from your front yard. This waterfront vacation home is perfect for a family with children, two couples (each has their own bathroom), or as a romantic get-away for a couple that desires privacy. The lake warms up earlier than the ocean and the water stays warm well into fall. There are 4 kayaks for your use, a large lawn for playing volleyball, and a huge deck and BBQ for relaxing. Large windows overlooking the lake, cathedral ceilings and numerous skylights create an interior that is both bright and cheery. In addition to the large great room ,there is also a family room with sliding doors to the deck, 2 bedrooms, 2 full baths, a fully equipped kitchen and a laundry.

Lake House Community: The Lake House is located in a small, quiet community of private homes known as Indian Lake Shores. Although quite removed from the hustle and bustle of town, everything you need is nearby. Several large grocery stores and the many other shops and restaurants of Wakefield and Narragansett are only 5 minutes away.

Spring, fall, and winter vacations: The Lake House is a great vacation rental in any season. Come to the lake in the spring and enjoy the water when the ocean is too cold. The green of the trees' new leaves and rainbow of the colorful blooming flowers reflect off the blue water. September and October are also special times in southern RI. Indian Lake is full of wildlife as migrating birds stop on their way to winter feeding grounds. While days are usually mild, the cool autumn nights paint the leaves red, yellow, and orange and the lake reflects the riot of color that surrounds it. A wood-stove with gas logs in the great-room will keep you cozy warm as you sip your mulled cider. Of course, there is a full heating system to keep you toasty if you visit in winter to go skating on the lake.

Golf opportunities: When you vacation at the Lake House, you have plenty of choices for golf. Less than 3 miles away is Rose Hill Golf Club, a beautiful new 9-hole course. In about half an hour or less, you can be at any of 11 18-hole golf courses or any of 7 9-hole golf courses.

About Jim or Martha

I grew up in the nearby village of Kingston. My father was a professor at the University of Rhode Island and my mother was a school teacher in West Kingston. My first swimming lessons were on Indian Lake and I spent many happy hours swimming and boating on the lake.

Why Jim or Martha chose Narragansett

When my wife and I decided to purchase a vacation home, we knew we wanted to be on Indian Lake. It is perfect for swimming, kayaking, and fishing. The property has shade trees to relax under while enjoying the view and the lot is double wide with 120 feet of waterfront. Although it feels like we are in our own little resort, we are only 10 minutes from the beautiful salt water beach in Narragansett and just a bit further from the state beaches. Often, we go swimming in the ocean in the morning and then come home and swim in the lake. Later we fire up the BBQ grill and enjoy a nice supper on the deck.

What makes this house unique

The house is bright and airy, even on cloudy days, with views of the lake from most rooms. It is so comfortable, we always hate to leave.

Amazing and relaxing

  • 5 of 5
We want to go back, not next year...NOW & FOREVER! It was a little piece of heaven on earth, especially the sunrises and sunsets over Indian Lake. Set up like a ranch style cabin/cottage it's comfy, has all the amenities of being home, and is close to it all. The use of the "extras" provided is a plus and well worth the weekly rate at any time of the season.

lakefront gem

  • 5 of 5
Lots of extras make this lakefront property well worth the weekly rate. Location to great state beaches, restaurants and historic towns would be enough but to be this close to a pristine, clear lake is the icing on the cake. Provided by the generous owners are kayaks, rafts, fishing gear, beach chairs, coolers, grill, cable TV, WIFI... Bring your sheets and towels and enjoy this cozy cottage setting that's so close to anything you need or want (after bringing in some groceries you really won't have to leave, or want to leave). The pictures are a true representation and we have lots of our own photos and memories to reflect on a great week away.

Peaceful vacation on the lake!

  • 5 of 5
Our vacation at Indian Lake was superb, thanks to warm weather, a beautiful lake, and the comfortable and well appointed Cosgrove house. It was nice to be able to swim in the warm waters of Indian Lake -- our ocean water out here is much too cold.

We wish we could have stayed longer, and hope to come again. Our four person family definitely recommends this house to other families. We are fortunate that our 12-year-old daughter found this place on the internet and told us about it. Thank you!

THE BEST VACATION!!

  • 5 of 5
Our family of 4 had one of the best vacations ever at the lake house. The home is immaculate, comfortable, peaceful and just a beautiful location. My only suggestion is to purchase some swim shoes. The lake is rather rocky and they can be a bit slimy and treacherous barefoot. We went right down the street to Olympia sports, got our swim shoes and were golden for the rest of our stay! My 11-year-old son began and ended every day fishing off the dock. Even my teenage daughter never once complained about anything. They LOVED kayaking, something neither had ever done before.

The Cosgroves have thought of everything - this was an absolutely phenomenal vacation experience. We did not want to leave.

We have been renting vacation homes online for the past 5-6 years. This was my "last shot" at getting it right, there are A LOT of misrepresentations out there. This home is definitely NOT misrepresented. It is PERFECTION. We would have stayed all summer.

The house is convenient to everything - 10 minutes to Scarborough beach. Downtown Wakefield has a great ice cream parlor and Pier Pizza (right nest door to the ice cream parlor) has the BEST pizza we have ever had. And if you love stuffies and clamcakes, Iggy's is the place to go.

idyll at the lake

  • 5 of 5
This is my family's second visit to the Lake House. Like last summer, everything was wonderful: picturesque setting, a wonderfully appointed house, and a great location. The owners are efficient and gracious hosts, always quick to respond to inqueries or dllemmas in a very quick and helpful manner.
We hope to return next year for another enjoyable sojourn on a gorgeous, secluded lake, just minutes from RI's finest beaches.
Could not be better!

Family Fun

  • 5 of 5
This beautiful lake house has become a family tradition. From kayaking off your own private dock, to enjoying the swimming hole, to BBQ on the deck at sunset, this is a great family vacation. The house is immaculate and fully stocked, the location is ideal, the neighborhood is quiet and accessible. Restaurants and great beaches are just a short drive away and day trips to Newport and Providence are convenient. We can't wait to go back!

A quiet retreat in an area described by Money Magazine as on of the best spots to vacation. Narragansett town beach, Scarborough, Sand Hill Cove, and Salty Brine are some of the close-by ocean beaches. Purchase fresh lobsters and seafood from the fishing boats in Galilee, stroll around the Pt. Judith lighthouse, go deep sea fishing or out on a whale watching excursion. Buy fresh produce from the many farm stands and farmers' markets. For the kids (or the young at heart) there are miniature golf courses, bumper boats, and go-carts nearby. For bigger 'kids' there eleven 18-hole golf courses in the area. A water-slide park is 20 minutes away in Misquamicut. If you love history, there are many colonial houses to tour and antique stores for shopping. The mansions of Newport and the famous cliff walk are also an easy 20 minute drive. The natural beauty of southern RI will take your breath away. From the ocean to the bay and the many ponds, lakes, and streams there is water everywhere

Other Activities: Lighthouses

Golf: When you vacation at the Lake House, you have plenty of choices for golf. Less than 3 miles away is Rose Hill Golf Club, a beautiful new 9-hole course. In about half an hour or less, you can be at any of 11 18-hole golf courses or 7 9-hole golf courses.

Notes:
The Lake House has four sit-on-top kayaks with paddles and personal flotation devices for your use on the lake. These kayaks are perfect for beginners and are great for fishing too. (Use at your own risk.) Launch the kayaks or swim from the front yard and fish from the dock. There are also plenty of other water toys to get your family out on the water. A two minute stroll brings you to the community beach with a floating raft and also to the tot lot. Just past our house the road turns to dirt and ends at a public boat launch suitable for small fishing boats and canoes. A wood stove with gas logs in the great room will warm you up on crisp fall days. Of course, there is a full heating system to keep you toasty if you come up in winter to go skating on the lake.
