CEDAR CLIFF LODGE @ BEAR LAKE RESERVE. Enjoy the perfect vacation with great outdoor opportunities and top-notch resort amenities at our cottage in Bear Lake Reserve. Nestled in a OPEN MEADOW at 2500 feet above sea level and surrounded by MOUNTAIN VIEWS, our cottage offers an ideal landscape for children and dogs to ramble safely outside while you watch it all from the comfort of our screened in porch. If it is just the two of you, walk out our front door on to a trail that leads you by cold streams, wooded coves, and long range mountain views as you make your way to Cedar Cliff Lake. After the invigorating walk, build a fire on screened in porch, pour a cool drink and take turns identifying the birds as they fly through the great outdoors that surround you.

Once you are fully relaxed, you may want to venture out and explore the many options within the 2,300 acre Bear Lake Reserve: Rent a pontoon boat, hike 17 miles of groomed trails - go fishing - enjoy a spa treatment - workout in the gym - take a sauna, steam or jacuzzi - reserve the cinema for a private film - play golf on the Jack Nicklaus designed mountain top course - cook up a feast in our cottage kitchen or visit the Lake Club with it's full service restaurant and tavern. You can do ALL this and more without ever leaving Bear Lake Reserve.

Beyond Bear Lake Reserve the nearby towns of Cashiers, Highlands and Sylva offer shops and restaurants worthy of a Travel Channel special. Slightly further is the Smoky Mountain National Park, white water rafting at the NOC, the Blue Ridge Parkway as well as the Biltmore Estate and all that Asheville has to offer.

Send us an inquiry today and we will provide a detailed rental proposal rate confirmation, site map and details on Cashiers, Highlands, Dillsboro and Asheville to help plan a great vacation.

We are located 15 miles north of Cashiers, approximately two and a half hours from both Atlanta and Charlotte – please be our guest in the mountains this week!

About William H Clark 'Bill'

Hi - We're the Jordan's - cottage owners at Bear Lake. In the attached photo we are enjoying the views from the golf course at Bear Lake Reserve. Not pictured is our Boston Terrier Milo, he ran down a trail and missed the photo! We enjoy our cottage as a place to relax and a base for outdoor expeditions. We hope you will visit our place soon and find your way to enjoy the N.C. mountains.

William H Clark 'Bill' purchased this cottage in 2006

Why William H Clark 'Bill' chose Tuckasegee

We live in the Atlanta and wanted a mountain retreat that was far away from the city but a convenient weekend drive. Bear Lake offered great cottage construction, amazing outdoor options and amenities of a resort. Over time we enjoy it even more when we meet our friends who return each year.

What makes this cottage unique

* Groomed hiking trails - one is steps away from the cottage

* Lake Club - 2 pools, 2 hot tubs, restaurant, pub, work out facility, massage rooms, sauna

* Jack Nicklaus Golf course - amazing views!

* tennis courts

* stocked fishing pond

* back porch with fireplace -- our favorite place to relax!

Nice home and management.

  • 4 of 5
Our family had stayed at this home for the weekend. The home itself was lovely and views were beautiful. There were a few hiccups with the stay which is the reason for a "Good" as opposed to excellent. All issues were expressed to management and later resolved generously. Thank you!

Quiet Mountain Getaway

  • 5 of 5
Lovely mountain home tucked away in the woods. My kind of "camping"--granite counter tops in a fully-equipped kitchen, a roaring fire in the great room, plus a washer/dryer for a longer stay. Loved it!

Perfect Thanksgiving Retreat!

  • 5 of 5
We have had the pleasure of visiting Bear Lake Reserve twice now to celebrate a small family Thanksgiving. This year, we chose to stay at the Cedar Cliff Lodge, and couldn't have been more pleased with our accommodations. The home is warm, comfortable and idealy located in our opinion, with lots of privacy and close to the front entrance.

My husband, two children (ages 11 and 12) and our 2 dogs all enjoyed 3 nights at Cedar Cliff Lodge. There was plenty of room for us all, and my mom even came to visit for Thanksgiving Day and stayed the night since one of the rooms has a trundle my children shared. We had preordered a Thanksgiving feast from the Bear Lake Lodge, which we picked up on Thanksgiving Day. Everything was splendidly prepared and delicious and with the house being plentifully stocked with serving dishes, wine glasses, placemats, and such, we were able to set the perfect rustic table for all of us to enjoy a hasselfree and memorable Thanksgiving. It couldn't have been more relaxing and wonderful!

We especially appreciated the professional and courteous dealings with the property contact, who was seamless in getting us reserved, sending directions and any additional assistance we needed. In fact, having returned home and finding I had left an important item behind, he contacted someone on property to retreive it and mail it back to me! That's going over and beyond in my opinion!

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this rental property for your next family vacation. We're hoping to visit during the summer when we can utilize more of the Lodges' facilities, i.e., the pool, lake, outdoor amphitheater, etc. But, there is still plenty to do in the off-season months. The hiking is grand, and there are fishing ponds and many outdoor fireplaces to sit and enjoy the peace and tranquility of nature.

Thank you for another wonderful memory of Thanksgiving at Bear Creek Lodge! Look forward to our return.

Perfect for our family!

  • 5 of 5
This home was lovely and well-appointed. Very comfortable and perfect for my husband and I, 2 children, and one dog. So close to the stocked fish pond too. We were very satisfied and love Bear Lake as a whole. We would definitely recommend this house.

Impressed with it All!

  • 5 of 5
We had a great time at Bear Lake Reserve- very comfortable and relaxing. The cottage (it's really a very well done and spacious home) was impeccably clean and has comfy (very tasteful) furnishings and is equipped with everything you need for the week stay. We were two families sharing the house - 4 adults and 3 children - we were very pleased with our stay and had a great time at the beautiful lodge/club house. The house is nicely situated in the community and offered privacy because you don't see the neighboring homes although they are there. Photos of the home are accurate, although, it certainly looks better when you are there. The master bedroom is large and has a great bathroom. Our kids were disappointed that we couldn't connect the XBox to the older tv's that were there (yet we didn't go there for video games!). The trails around the house added a bit of adventure, too, and we saw a fox, turkeys and a fisher (just outside the development). The lodge's pool was excellent, the fitness room surpassed expectations and the lodge's restaurant offered a diverse menu and the food was very good. Cell phone reception was poor but the house (generously) has a phone guests can use. Also, the Guest Cottage at the reserve came to the rescue when we needed a business document to quickly fax.

We kept ourselves busy- there is absolutely a ton of things to do. We traveled to many areas: Cherokee, Smoky Mountain Natl Park, Looking Glass waterfall, Asheville, and a little bit of local shopping in Sylva. Dinner at a Mexican restaurant in Cullowhee was surprising good and Tenn is only 90 mins away with endless activities as well.

Lastly, the overseers of our trip (the people you book your stay with) run an efficient, smooth and very accommodating operation. On just the 4th day from our departure we also got our security back! This was much appreciated as every other rental stay we attended (and we move around quite a bit) take 3 to 4 weeks.

Home Away From Home

  • 5 of 5
This home is even better than described, and the photos don't do it justice. The property is extremely clean and well maintained. When you walk in, it feels like home. The owner has paid attention to every detail. I brought cleaning supplies, extra toilet paper etc. You never know what you will get when renting a vacation home. Everything you could possibly need is there, right down to the marshmallow roasting utencils for the outside fireplace. The furniture and beds are very comfortable. The master bed is like one in a five star resort. We slept like babies. I have rented in bear lake before, and this is by far the nicest home that we have stayed in. I highly recommend it, and can't wait to return.
