Our cabin is located 10 minutes from charming, downtown Grayling. While downtown, step back in time and visit Dawson-Stevens Ice Cream Parlor. On the corner by the ice cream parlor enjoy some of the best pizza and bread sticks around at the Bears Den. While there, take time to look at some of the pictures of the legendary bow hunter Fred Bear. Visit the antique store, the Quilt Store, the Bike Shop, Goodale's Bakery, the Rialto movie house, the new North Country Corner in addition to other downtown stores. Enjoy the peaceful surroundings of our cabin while curled up in our porch swing or front porch rocking chairs. Listen and watch for the many birds, including hawks and occasionally a bald eagle. We supply the bird seed to keep the feeders filled. Take one of the two kayaks provided (Spring through Fall), down the path, through the woods, and slip into the peaceful Au Sable River for a gentle paddle. You very well might see an otter. Five minutes upstream from the dock will be your last sight of a cabin. (You'll only pass three!) You will be paddling through pristine wilderness. Once in awhile you might see a fly fisherman walking through the water. Paddle downstream from the dock and you will pass some beautiful cabins. If you really want to put in a few hours in the water you can paddle right into downtown Grayling! Nearby attractions include famous Mackinac Island (85 miles north), Hartwick Pines State Park (15 minutes), Hanson Hills Ski Resort/Park (10 minutes), Lake Margrethe, Higgins & Houghton Lakes, Gaylord (golf), Traverse City / Lake Michigan, Petoskey, Tanger Outlet Center (45 minutes south) and many others. Our family stayed at the cabin and had a great time! It was so nice to be able to just walk down to the river and fish, kayak or walk.

We really enjoyed our stay at the MemoryMaker cabin with Rick & Kathy Kleinsmith and our families. It was a beautiful snowy weekend and lots of relaxation time. The numerous deer in the front yard just added to our great weekend. The accomodations were wonderful. Thank you so much.

We had a super time at the cabin. It was everything that we prayed that it would be. The cabin was so comfortable, the setting so peaceful and beautiful, the snow and river recreational opportunities so complete, and the time for peace and relaxation unencumbered. We have just come through several months of challenge and this time away was so needed. Your Memory Maker cabin was “just what the Doctor ordered.” Thanks for all your attention to detail that left us with nothing more to request. We look forward to enjoying your property again.
