Great vacation getaway in perfect location. Four bedroom house with 150 foot dock on Portage Lake. Portage Lake is just north of Manistee and connects via a short channel to Lake Michigan. Ideal summer or winter getaway. Boat or Jet Ski on Portage or Lake Michigan. Visit historic downtown Manistee. Large lot with separate lake access lot directly across the road in front of the house. The Little River Casino is five minutes from the cottage. Arcadia Bluffs golf course is only seven minutes away! (The Heathlands is only about two minutes away.) Crystal Mountain is a short fifteen minute drive. Enjoy great secluded Lake Michigan beaches within a five minute drive. Enjoy the dock and Portage Lake right out the front door. Houses sits on almost an acre of land to provide a great family vacation with lake front lot right across street which features a sandy bottom and 150' dock. Fantastic restaurants right in Onekama.

Onekama is a small town with two lakes - Portage Lake and Lake Michigan. Portage Lake is a large lake about four miles long and up to two miles across that connects to Lake Michigan via a short channel. Creating an ideal getaway, Portage Lake never seems over crowded because many people go out to Lake Michigan to boat. One of the nicest casinos in Michigan (The Little River) is situated half way between our cottage and Manistee. Onekama is a ten minute drive north of Manistee and its historic downtown. Golf abounds in the area with Arcadia Bluffs, The Heathlands, Crystal Mountain, and The Manistee National to name just a few. Crystal Mountain provides a winter getaway that is a short fifteen minute drive to some of the best skiing in the mid-west. If you want to go to the big city then Traverse City is a beautiful scenic drive one hour north.

the house was very nice and worked out great for our group and visitors, the huge yard front and back was also great for the grandchildren. and the fire pit was used every night. Our only disapointment was we were not told that it did not sit on the lake as we had thought by the picture. but lake michigan beach is not far so all had fun.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Pet-friendly, Girls Getaway, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children

My family spent an incredible week in Onekama. The cottage is a prefect layout for a family. It has three large bedrooms and one smaller one. The kitchen and the living room are great looking out toward the Portage Lake. The layout of the kitchen and living room allow you to get up early with the little kids but are positioned away from the bedrooms to let everyone else enjoy sleeping in. The two bathrooms are also nice to have, one with a bathtub and the other with a shower.
The cottage was absolutely spotless when we arrived nicely decorated. The wireless internet and cable TV with a DVD player was also a plus. The exterior of the cottage makes for a unusual look. However, on the days when the temperture was extremly hot the cottage was nice in cool inside because of the landscaping and great ventilation of the all the windows.
The backyard was also a hit. The firepit was a perfect ending for smores everynite.
The location of the cottage was great. Close to Onekama, the casino, and great golf courses.
I would suggest this cottage to anyone looking to get away relax and enjoy a great lake in Northern Michigan.
