About Laura Myerson
Laura is a retired elementary public school teacher and Michael is a writer, author of several books, and writer for Local 1199, the Hospital Workers union. Laura's parents, also school teachers, built the cottage when Laura was in high school and our two kids, Molly and Jesse, now grown, grew up spending wonderful vacation time there. We still have yearly family reunions of our whole big family there, and wonderful memories of years of peace, beauty, culture and fun. We now live in Westchester, NY and rent the cottage out, taking the opportunity to enjoy it ourselves when it's not rented.
What makes this cabin unique
Every listing is unique, but what makes our cottage special is its location -- in the peaceful woods, but five minutes away from Tanglewood, one of the top music venues in the country, and from the Town Beach on magnificent Lake Mahkeenac (the Stockbridge Bowl), with a grass and sand beach. The entire Berkshires area is especially attractive not only for its natural beauty, but also for the rich cultural fare available to visitors, and a peaceful, easygoing atmosphere.
We have taken pains to make sure you are comfortable and well supplied at the cottage. You're on vacation -- we don't want you to have to run out and buy basic supplies you will need during your stay. We stock the house with toilet paper, paper towels, napkins, tissues, plastic bags and other everyday supplies. The fridge and pantry are stocked with many condiments, and the cupboards are full of a wide selection of dishes, glasses, pots and pans and everything you need to cook meals at home. It is supremely relaxing to sit at the dining table on the porch, looking out at the peace and quiet of the woods.
For at-home entertainment, we have DVDs (though no TV), videos, books, toys and games, a piano with sheet music. Everyone in the family should be comfortable and happy in the cottage.
Perhaps the greatest attraction of this cottage is its location, five minutes from the Town Beach and Tanglewood, ten minutes from both Stockbridge and Lenox, and near to Great Barrington, Williamstown, and other charming New England towns with galleries, shops, restaurants, libraries and more. Nearby are numerous theater, music and dance venues, art and other museums, great estates to visit, galleries, antique shops, vineyards, hiking trails, and much, much more. We provide a listing with descriptions of many places in the area we have visited and highly recommend.
