Comments: Dear Barbara, thank you for providing your appartment. We loved to stay there. Everything was just perfect. Pool and Jakuzi were our first aim every morning. After that we made trips or just stayed in Lahaina, which is a beautiful small city. We recommend the sailing boat trip for the whale watching. Our fmaily really needed a break from work and what we found was worth to come all the way from Tokyo!
This is a great place to stay! The owners were very helpful in preparing us for Hawaii as this was our first time there and the location was perfect as it was within a couple blocks of all the attractions. Only wish it wasn't $20 a day to park there, but you have to pay for parking almost everywhere anyways. Definitely recommending this spot to family and friends.
We had a great experience here from start to finish. The owner was always responsive and helpful. The condo is in a perfect location - walking distance to everything in downtown Lahaina. My husband and son were scuba diving throughout the vacation and they could just walk to the dive center. The condo itself was really comfortable, outfitted with everything you could need and had good air conditioning and fans - really nice to have in August! We'd definitely stay here again next time we come to Maui!
We really enjoyed our stay at Aina Nalu Condos. The location is great and we enjoyed being just out of the downtown area and yet literally a block away from all the action. The grounds are lovely, large pool area (s) and it just felt like home.
I have to admit that we are usually ocean "resort" people but we were pleasantly surprised with this condo unit. The unit was clean and well maintained. Beds were comfy and there was plenty of room for an eclectic group of five adults. The grounds were neatly maintained, pool areas very nice and staff pleasant. Kitchen stocked with enough equipment to prepare a decent meal. Washer/dryer in unit is very convenient. Complex very quiet but that may be because we stayed the last week of August so crowds had dissipated.
The complex is not on an ocean beach but it's a short drive to our favorites of Black Rock (park at the Sheraton) and Kapalua. Can't beat the convenience to the restaurants on Lahaina's Front Street--short two block walk. Paid for parking at the complex--free parking not always available and a little sketchy. Parking lots abound but they're usually $10-20 anyway.
The only real negative was a friendly rooster who felt it necessary to alert us that the sun was coming up!
Overall, it served as a great base station for our activities. We did a lot of snorkeling--in front of the Westin Ocean Villas (Kahekili) was probably the best. Also, Black Rock and Kapalua beaches. Ventured to Honolua Bay Reserve but it was pretty cloudy the day we went (I've been before when it's been fantastic). Be aware that since the bay is a reserve they really would prefer you not use sunscreen and wear uv shirts instead--in fact, there was a "volunteer" giving warnings and stink eye to anyone brandishing a lotion bottle.
Did sunrise at Haleakala--it was beautiful but freezing! Didn't know we were doing this activity so hadn't packed anything warm. Took my bathrobe in desperation and was quite a sight to see, although I did see people wrapped in bath towels from their hotels!
Ziplined at Maui's Tropical Plantation. Great experience for first timers and wimps like me who are afraid of plunging to their demise.
Did the obligatory drive to Hana. Highly recommend renting GPS with audio for the trip. I was skeptical since I'd made the drive several times and thought I'd seen it all. Really informative and played Hawaii music when not giving info. Take the time to stop at some of the sites it mentions. Can't remember where we rented it from but it was inside one of the stores by the Aquarium.
We'll definitely rent from Barb and stay here again. In fact, I've recommended the property to several friends since returning just a couple of weeks ago.
This condo has really enhanced our vacation. We never thought it would be so big and beautiful all around the condo. It is like living in the middle of a beautiful garden. The condo is clean and very welcoming. Every day, we were realizing how good was the location of this unit. Just close enough to the main pool without the ''noise'' of the pool and because it is close to one of the extremities and at the same level as the parking, it is very much easier to carry all our bags when coming back from the grocery store or from the beach. This condo was perfect for 2 adults and 2 young children. To go to the beach, there were some beach toys, some chairs, a cooler, some masks, 2 swimming goggles, one boogie board and some other things.
The owner was very courtly with us and has always answered very promptly by e-mail. If one of these days we come back to Maui and choose to stay in Lahaina again, we would choose the same condo again without any hesitation.
Starting out I must say Barb was fantastic dealing with her! She was informative, percise, and honest in her communications! The condo is as described and somewhat better. The condo is super clean, well maintained, and conveniently located to two pools along with parking lot! The complex does charge for parking but it super convenient and secure. The kitchen was well equipped, there are water toys, a cooler, and children stroller, playpen, and water toys. You can't ask for more when renting this condo. The complex's personnel treated me like any other of their guests which was welcoming! We had 50mph winds which threw debris down throughout the complex but the next morning crews were cleaning it up! Thank you Barb for allowing me to use your home during my vacation!
