One of the best is just down the street. River rafting is also fun on the south toe river and dont forget your fishing pole. South Toe is one of the best
Chalet Restaurant in Little Switzerland is a great restaurant and oh so fun!!! there are many gift shops up there with hand crafted jewelery and much more. Mountain View Restaurant is another fun restaurant with an awesome view!! Hilltop restaurant in Burnsville is an old favorite with good food. Grassy Creek Country club in Spruce Pine has a very nice restaurant and if you forgot your wine and beer you can purchase it there. Yancey county is a dry county so bring your beer or wine with you. And don't forget Brunch at the Grove Park Inn..............so yummy and beautiful!!! Yancey county is no longer a dry county and will serve your favorite drinks. We had a wonderful vacation in your beautiful cabin. Our home away from home. Celebrated all our anniversaries. All climbed to the top of Mt. Mitchell on a gorgeous fall day. Picniced on the Blue Ridge. Apple Orchard where Kate danced. Burnsville store and princess store and lunch. Gem mine and Little Switzerland- WE did it all!!! And as always we went on a bear hunt around the porch at night. Great to be together, especially in our favorite cabin. Everything was perfect
Thanks again, Kathryin.........this is our eighth year!!!! Granddaughter has been going there since one and now eight. She thinks this is her home. This is her favorite place to come
I grew up in Knoxville Tennessee and my husband in WVa. We lived in Florida before moving to Raleigh NC in 1983. We had bought the old cabin in 1981. My husband was an engineer with AZ and traveled until he retired a few years ago. I have been into Antiques since we moved here and have had a lovely shop in a great area for 20 years. Its a quaint area with other shops, places to eat, Its work and fun!!! I share the shop with three other ladies which allows me to shop and travel.
We had an old cabin on this land for a long time but decided to build a log cabin 12 years ago and we have never been sorry. Its beautiful and looks like the day we built and decorated it.
The landscape is a dream with the mountain and creek behind us. The openness and big windows looking out onto the creek and mountain is awesome and its only 12 minutes to town.
Another thing to love is its always green around us even in the winter with the hemlocks we have saved and the rhodadendrons up the mountain. Its a beautiful sight to see
Since we built this cabin everything is wonderful about it. The wrap around decking, the covered front porch. Everything feels perfect. Everything is comfortable including the sofas and beds!! That always helps. All the logs and vaulted ceilings make you feel like you are in a palace. Love that feeling of space
