About 50 years ago, the local bishop of Antigonish, a lovely university town in northeastern Nova Scotia, had the right idea - to build himself a simple cottage near the water as a place where he could retreat from the hectic pressures of daily life. Some things do not change - except that the cottage is now open to visitors from far and wide.

The Bishop’s Cottage is privately nestled on its own five acres of land surrounded by spruce and poplar trees. It was completely renovated in 2004 and brought back to its simple state. Inside are lovely spaces: a large kitchen that opens onto an expansive screened in porch; a dining room that seats 8; four charming bedrooms with painted wooden floors; two full bathrooms and a large living room that opens onto a southwest facing deck.

So come, stay a while, unwind - you're sure to leave refreshed and recharged.

Notes: Pets: Most pets are welcome as part of the family. They (especially dogs) will love the 10 acres of land on which they can roam along with the miles of coastline and beach. Pets are allowed in all inside areas of the property but not on any of the furniture. Pet owners are also asked to pick up after their pets at all time (though in wooded areas of the property please let them poop to their hearts - or bowels - content). Swimming is just a minute away on our miles of warm (70F-75F) deserted sandy beaches. Nearby is excellent hiking, golf, ocean kayaking, summer theatre, fine dining, shopping and festivals. Day trips take you to watch whales, tour a vineyard and drive the spectacular Cape Breton Cabot Trail. Vacation perfection!
