DISAPPOINTED AND NO RESPONSE

Our family stayed at "Way South of Broad" for a recent spring break, 2011. It has a nice floor plan with great views. We did not feel it was as clean as it could have been and in fact the outside of the property was down right disgusting. Upon our arrival, we found all of the recycle bins and garbage cans on the curb and full. Come to find out from the neighbor that the garbage pick up was the that morning we arrived. So needless to say we had to move the cans from the curb and have no where to put our trash. There was a half bag of garbage that I picked up from the ground below the house, near the stairs, and very unsightful. Including a soiled pair of underwear and diaper in the outdoor shower. Not a welcoming first impression. Inside, it is in dire need of fresh paint and a thorough cleaning. Things were particularly dusty and grimy. Unfortuately, after two emails we have yet to hear from her and it has been two weeks. I've been expecting a phone call with some sort of explaination or apology which hasn't come. That is rather disappointing at this point. I've hesitated to call, not knowing if it would result in anything positive. Some sort of partial refund on the cleaning charges? Or an explaination of the outdoor appearance? I guess if I were the owner I would promptly contact the renter after being emailed and try to address their concerns. Under these circimstances, I would definitely not recommend this property to any of our friends or family. Charleston is a wonderful city which we have visited before and I know we will return to.
Owner's Response: This guest never called while staying at the property. We would have gladly sent our cleaning crew back to the house if we had known. In May 2011, the entire house was repainted and bedrooms recarpeted. We strive to have one of the most beautiful homes in Folly and always want our guests to be happy.
