Great location, nice house, Needs upkeep

This home was in a great location and despite all our inconveniences we had a wonderful time. The house is in dire need of plain, old fashioned, basic maintenance. There has been significantly poor communication with the owner both before the rental and after. First and foremost the owner badges that come with the home DO NOT get you into the pool as insinuated in the description so we had to pay an extra $20 per day for four of our guests. On our first day we did nothing more than unpack, change EVERY lightbulb in the house as they were all blown out and wipe dust off the top of the range. The video game systems they claim to have were A) missing power cords and B) had no game paddles at all. There was food in the cabinets from 2001 (no that is not a typo). The first floor's bath had a broken sink that has been running for at least a year from the looks of the hard water stain. It was not a trickle but a steady stream coming out that you could hear even with the door closed. The grill was full of ashes and unusable, there was one pool chair to take with us (not much good for 77 year old Mom). We have never, and hate, giving someone a bad review. We have vacationed there for 15 years but would have picked a more kept home if we had known.
We were happy with the location, cable system, general style of the home and amenities like the pool table. Overall though the misleading statements in the advertisment and lack of communication would put me off of this property until it can be proven that it has been brought up to par with the other homes in the developement.
Owner's Response: Let me start by saying that I was quite taken back by this review. I have never received anything but exceptional comments on the house and this was quite the contrary to past reviews. That being said, I will most certainly look into the general comments to include the Playstation 2 and speak with my housekeeper regarding overall upkeep and cleanliness as it is the most important thing I look for when shopping for a home for my own family. That being said I would like to address a few comments that are completely inaccurate or incorrect.
Pool pass issuance and associated fees are established by the community board. Accurate fees are $10 per pass or $50 for six passes "Per Season" (even if the stay were to last the entire summer) with any rental. These passes are available upon request for the above noted fees and will be included in your welcome packet.
Regarding food in the cabinets from 2001; please note that I have only owned the house since 2004. Enough said.
There was a leak in the bathroom sink. Once identified by the subsequent renter it was replaced within two days.
I will say that communication can be difficult at times as it was this time. I fly search and rescue with the Air Force and was deployed to Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas, in support of hurricane relief efforts in the heavily flooded regions struck by Gustav and Ike.
