Nearby Jockey's Ridge State Park puts you atop the highest sand dunes in the east - between 110-140 feet. A perfect place to learn to hang glide, fly kites or watch the sunset. The Wright Brothers Memorail in Kitty Hawk has a museum, tours, a book shop and other attractions about the brothers' famous first flight. Air tours can be had at nearby First Flight. The First Colony Theatre in Manteo provides a summer pageant that has to be seen to be believed. The North Carolina Aquarium in Manteo has been newly expanded and updated. The sound is the perfect place to learn how to wind surf, sail, jet ski, para-sail or kite board. Scuba lessons and dives are available from the dive shop in Nags Head. Bikes and almost anything else can be rented at Outer Banks Rental in Nags Head. Through the state park system you can arrange for free kayak tours of the sound. Surfing, all kinds of fishing, and almost any other water sport you can think of are available within a 15-minute drive.
Dining and Shopping:
There are hundreds of shopping opportunities on the Outer Banks. The Tangier Outlets and the Outer Banks Mall are less than three miles away, but that's just the tip of the iceberg. Dining from the finest cuisine to the most casual of fast food eating is everywhere. Our favorites include: RVs, Sam and Omies, Station Six, Kelly's, Mulligans, and Stone Oven Pizza. Nearby Manteo provides shopping and dining at the Manteo Waterfront. We like the Half Moon Cafe and The Magnolia Grill. Festival Park provides weekly live concerts and the best fireworks on the 4th of July.
Golf:
The Links at Nags Head is located at the Village of Nags Head, Mile Post 16 in Nags Head. The Seascape Golf Course is located in Kitty Hawk at Mile Post 4 and Duck Woods is located at Mile Post 1 in Southern Shores. Just across the Wright Memorial Bridge on the west side of Pamlico Sound are Holly Ridge, the Kilmaric Golf Club, The Point Golf Club, Goose Creek and The Carolina Club. The Currituck Club is in Corolla.
