The Ocean Cactus is bright and airy, kid friendly with a great location to explore and enjoy the Outer Banks. Three doubles, 1 bunk, two showers, washer/dryer, dishwasher, internet available, Two TVs w/ cable, large great room - All on one floor. Across the street from the beach with private beach access. Corner lot with plenty of parking. Side entrance from quiet cul-de-sac. Just re-modeled and re-sided, so everything is clean and comfortable. Just cross the street to get on the new 10-mile Nags Head Bike Path, where you can walk, bike, blade or skate board to shopping or the fishing pier. Plenty of deck space. Convenient to Outer Banks golf, dining, shopping, Jockey's Ridge State Park, the Wright Brothers Memorial and all the attractions in Manteo. Located on The Beach Road, Mile Post 18. South Nags Head.

Fun Activities and Adventure - : Nearby Jockey's Ridge State Park puts you atop the highest sand dunes in the east - between 110-140 feet. A perfect place to learn to hang glide, fly kites or watch the sunset. The Wright Brothers Memorail in Kitty Hawk has a museum, tours, a book shop and other attractions about the brothers' famous first flight. Air tours can be had at nearby First Flight. The First Colony Theatre in Manteo provides a summer pageant that has to be seen to be believed. The North Carolina Aquarium in Manteo has been newly expanded and updated. The sound is the perfect place to learn how to wind surf, sail, jet ski, para-sail or kite board. Scuba lessons and dives are available from the dive shop in Nags Head. Bikes and almost anything else can be rented at Outer Banks Rental in Nags Head. Through the state park system you can arrange for free kayak tours of the sound. Surfing, all kinds of fishing, and almost any other water sport you can think of are available within a 15-minute drive.

Dining and Shopping: There are hundreds of shopping opportunities on the Outer Banks. The Tangier Outlets and the Outer Banks Mall are less than three miles away, but that's just the tip of the iceberg. Dining from the finest cuisine to the most casual of fast food eating is everywhere. Our favorites include: RVs, Sam and Omies, Station Six, Kelly's, Mulligans, and Stone Oven Pizza. Nearby Manteo provides shopping and dining at the Manteo Waterfront. We like the Half Moon Cafe and The Magnolia Grill. Festival Park provides weekly live concerts and the best fireworks on the 4th of July.

The Ocean Cactus is located conveniently near swimming, surfing, sailing, windsurfing, hang-gliding, scuba, kite boarding, jet skiing, flying, deep sea fishing, sound fishing, golf, tennis, cycling, roller blading, dining, kayaking, birding, shopping, live music, clubs, the Wright Brothers Memorial National Monument and Jockey's Ridge State Park, which holds the highest sand dunes on the East. Nearby Manteo provides dining, shopping, The Botanical Gardens, the North Carolina Aquarium and live theatre at the Lost Colony. Cinema, miniature golf, indoor rock wall climbing and go-kart racing are all within 15 minutes. Lessons can be taken for just about everything. Equipment rentals are no problem. The cottage is located near the first permanent European Colony established by Sir Walter Raleigh. Birth place of Virgina Dare. Visit where the Wright Brothers flew the first airplane in Kitty Hawk. The new Outer Banks Hospital is three miles away.

Golf: The Links at Nags Head is located at the Village of Nags Head, Mile Post 16 in Nags Head. The Seascape Golf Course is located in Kitty Hawk at Mile Post 4 and Duck Woods is located at Mile Post 1 in Southern Shores. Just across the Wright Memorial Bridge on the west side of Pamlico Sound are Holly Ridge, the Kilmaric Golf Club, The Point Golf Club, Goose Creek and The Carolina Club. The Currituck Club is in Corolla.

We had a great time!! House was as described, clean, & easy access to everything. I wish we could have seen the beach better from the deck. The power went out one day because of a storm. Everyone else got power back but us. I called the owners, they were wonderful. They called the power co & stayed up until after midnight to make sure they came & we had power. I had never been to Nags Head that is why we went this year. We did a lot of sightseeing and enjoyed the ride to Hatteras & the Ferry ride to Ocracoke. We saw all of the Lighthouses in the area. It is not my favorite place so we probably will not go again. It has nothing to do with the house. I am just a Myrtle Beach kinda person.
