Great location, confortable house

We had a great time at Hilton Head, and the superb location of 8 Laughing Gull was a large part of the positive stay. It was a short walk to the beach, and we could bicycles up to Harbortown (including to the Sea Pines Tennis Center) and South Beach using the bike paths without a problem. We used Palmetto Bikes as suggested by the owners of the property, and the bikes were delivered/picked up at the house as requested for a week.
This beach house was somewhat older, but the location and fully functioning air conditioning during our stay ( it was incredibly hot and humid that week) more than made up for it.
The owner was very helpful, and since she was out of town during the week we rented, her sister was available for any questions or queries. We had a lovely dinner at the Quarter Deck in Harbortown, had a tasty lunch at the Market Cafe at Coligny Plaza and the deli next to Fresh Market. Highly recommend Fresh Market on Hilton Parkway for groceries. Less than impressed by Roasted Fish and Cornbread Restaurant, despite what we'd read.
I would have liked more house/area information available ( for instance, one night neighbors were having a raucous party until 3:30 in the morning, and I had to look in the phone book for Hilton Head police phone number, then call another number on their after hours recording, who then told me Sea Pines has their own security and that I should call them first to address the problem.Would have been nice to have the number of Security as well as police handy.) A central information sheet available with these kinds of numbers, and perhaps a list of favorite restaurants, bike path maps, etc. would have been useful and appreciated. Plumbing (toilets) was a little slow, and we had to root around the kitchen drawers to find the extra front door keys but again, relatively minor quibbles. The neighborhood was generally quiet (aforementioned party seemed an exception) and felt very safe.
All in all we'd do it again!
