You can have it all. Coral reef, sunsets, white sand, placid aqua waters, lapping waves, fresh water pool, are all right there for your enjoyment and just a couple of steps off the deck. Delight in the golden sunsets, turquoise waters and lavender skies while lounging in air conditioned comfort. Villa Joya en Bayside is located ocean front at the quieter eastern edge of West Bay Beach which was voted by National Geographic as one of the worlds most beautiful. There are PADI dive operators, restaurants, shops and a deli all within an easy walk along this gorgeous stretch of white sand beach. Gumbolimbo Park is also a short walk away. This is a home away from home setting by waters edge with a fresh water pool, split air conditioning units with remote controls in each room. Master suite has a king bed and second bedroom can be either twins or a king. The building has a quiet, automatic switched backup generator. Beach towels and ample linens are provided.

Villa Joya en Bayside: Why be cramped up in a small room occupied by mostly the bed, when your family and friends can enjoy the comforts of an air conditioned home for about the same amount of money or less, when you enjoy the use of the kitchen. You don't have to make arrangements to meet in some public place ~ you walk out or your bedroom to the social areas of a home.

West Bay Beach: Villa Joya is very nearly perfectly located at West Bay Beach. It is close to restaurants, shops, parks, dive operators without being on top of them. What it is ‘on top of’ is fabulous beach with coral within easy swimming distance. It has easy and quick access (2 minute walk) to the most popular beach on Roatan, at the same time having a very private deck within a few feet of the water. Due to its geographical location West Bay only really developed in recent times as a community of international expats living in small to large developments, some of which could be called resorts. Workers are bused over the mountain ridge each day from their homes in West End, Sandy Bay, Coxen Hole and Flowers Bay.

Activities: Diving and snorkeling is what Roatan is about as we the best of the best while being the most affordable in the Caribbean. Roatan and the Bay Islands are part of the second largest barrier reef on earth. I see turtles, rays, lobster, squid, very large Parrot and Queen Angel fish, and many more varieties to numerous to mention. The coral is as varied as the fish and there is much of it all along West Bay. The Gumbolimbo nature park with zip line is a very short walk down the beach. There are several PADI dive operators from which to choose, one of which, Las Rocas, is right next door. West Bay has an art gallery and a variety of restaurants, including a deli and palapa bar with burgers. There are a few but very nice shops along with a video rental provider. And West End with many wonderful restaurants, bars and shops is a fun water taxi ride away.

All That Was Advertised And More

Previous reviews were dead-on! We were there the beginning of January 2009 and could not have been more pleased. The unit is actually larger than the pictures make it appear and is fully and finely equipped. But it's the location that is spectacular! Close but not too close. Easy walking, even for my 80 year old mother. Our daughter got certified at Las Rocas - a great staff there. When not diving we snorkeled at the far end of West Bay Beach. I've never seen snorkeling from a beach like in Roatan. We ate in often but found some great bargains. Check out Foster for $12 lobster and Infinity Bay for $10 beach BBQ on Sunday. I didn't hurt that we had perfect weather - no clouds and 80+ degrees every day. Our daily cocktail at sunset on the beach was fun. The sand fleas are a nuisance, though. Keep the bug spray on. We'll definately be back.

Perfect Location/Beautiful Condo

My family and I stayed in Villa Joya for a week in mid-December 2008. The location is perfect as you can get to everything you want to in a short walk yet far enough away from the bulk of the hotels to be quiet and private. Las Rocas was a great place to grab a cocktail and they have a great, friendly dive shop to work with. The only negative was the sand fleas but other than that I would definitely recommend Villa Joya to everyone!!

Good value at panoramic beach side apartment

After multiple visits to Roatan, we are sure to also come back to this apartment which offered us the quiet, comfort and privacy we were looking for. What else do you want than a fully equipped villa on 10 yards off a lukewarm, cristal clear, tropical fish-laden sea? One can eat, swim, snorkel and stroll at nearby west bays' beaches. You name it what families, young and elderly couples alike are generally looking for, this place has got it!

We stayed at Villa Joya the first week in Oct. 2007. The visit was wonderful. Everything at Villa Joya was exactly as described. It is close to resorts but still private. We are divers and dove out of the West End Dive shop. They were safety minded and helpful. The reef is wonderful. Linda was very helpful and explained eveything. She was also available if we needed anything.We plan on visiting again.
