This condo is in a great location; however it was not as described because it is not "wheel-chair accessible". I had contacted the owner prior to leasing and specifically asked if this unit would be appropriate for my mother in her wheel-chair and he affirmed that it was. However, when she arrived, the only door wide enough for her normal-sized wheelchair was the door to the condo from the hall; all of the other doorways were too narrow for her walker or wheel chair to go through; thus making all bathrooms & bedrooms inaccessible unless she closed her walker, placed it inside the door frame & then reopened it (This was not possible in either bathroom, thus necessitating obtaining a commode chair). The owner said he was going to edit his listing to not show "wheel-chair accessible" but that hasn't happened yet.
The sliding door in the front bedroom was still broken (as mentioned in a Jan. 2009 review) as were beach chairs and a balcony chair, in addition to several burned out lights. The tile floors were sticky and a call to the owner did bring the cleaning crew back to address that on Tues. The glass in the sliding doors, balcony areas & outdoor furniture were dirty & I had to clean the furniture before we could use it. There were only 6 bath towels, even though there were to be 8 guests. The large window in the beach-side bedroom was missing a screen, which could be a danger to small children. The unit was to be "fully stocked" however, there were only 2 partial rolls of tp, 1 roll of paper towels and no other supplies in the kitchen other than dishes & pans.
When I contacted the owner he said that things tend to disappear during the season and he was sorry that things wasn't there or were broken, but did not rectify the issue. I requested a partial refund based on the misleading description and inconvenience to my mother in her wheelchair, but none has been received at the time of this writing.
The unit is nicely furnished and is in a great location, but I can't in good faith recommend it as the description is currently written on the websites and the cleanliness of the unit.
Owner's Response: The renter complained about everything in the condo from the things listed to not have an on site housekeeper. She complained that her feet kept getting dirty and the windows were dirty. I sent out our cleaning company at my expense to clean the unit again for her. The reason her feet kept getting dirty were because she kept going outside on the concrete decks. The glass was dirty because it had just rained the night before and the sea spray was on the windows. She also complained that we did not have laundry detergent and more rolls of toilet paper than the 3 rolls supplied. The door will be repaired during the off-season. There is not enough available time during the spring through fall rental seasons to do major repairs. We did have an honest mis understanding regarding the wheel chair accessibility. The unit was listed incorrectly on Homeaway and has now been corrected. I did not give her a refund because I spent the extra money to send the cleaning company out a second time as well as repaired the damage from her walker on the walls and cabinets after her departer. I consider this a lesson learned for both of us and now we need to move on. I would not recommend this person as a tenet for anyone as well, some people just cannot be pleased at all.
