********What can I do in Glenwood Springs?

Glenwood Springs was listed as one of the top seven ski towns in Rand McNally & USA Today's issue of 'Best of the Road'.

Read what Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park Blogger, Mandy Gauldin, Public Relations guru has to say...

'There’s a reason Glenwood Springs was named the Most Fun Town in America by Rand McNally and USA Today. It really is fun, and that makes it a great destination for spring breakers. Whether you live on the Front Range and need a staycation, or are coming from out-of-state for your Colorado ski trip, we hope you’ll consider Glenwood Springs.

(Any time of the year) here’s a look at what you can do in Glenwood Springs:

*In the off-season, Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park has smaller crowds than you’ll find here in the summer. Our Winter Fun Pass will still be available, and it’s an incredible deal. For just $31 per person, you get a round-trip ride on the Iron Mountain Tramway, or a bus in inclement weather, a 70-minute guided Cave Tour, and unlimited access to the Alpine Coaster, 4D Motion Theater and Laser Tag Arena. You can add lunch at the Lookout Grille.

*Ski or ride at one or more of the seven ski resorts located within an hour of Glenwood Springs, including Vail, Aspen, Aspen Highlands, Beaver Creek, Snowmass, Buttermilk and Sunlight Mountain Resort. That’s especially nice because the lodging in Glenwood Springs is significantly more affordable than in neighboring Aspen and Vail, and you are located right in the middle of these world-class resorts.

*Play and relax at the Glenwood Hot Springs, the world’s largest hot springs pool, which is well known for its healing mineral waters. Weather permitting, the pool’s two water slides will be open the last two weeks of March, which adds even more fun to your swim. The pool is open until 10 p.m. every night, so you can spend the day with us, and then relax in the pool afterwards.

*You can also laugh the night away at the Glenwood Vaudeville Revue, get pampered at one of several spas in town, take a snowmobile tour, go snowshoeing or cross-country skiing, choose from an amazing variety of restaurants and go shopping. With more than 100 stores, Glenwood Springs is the largest retail shopping area between Denver and Grand Junction.'

Saving you money - cost comparison: The Sunshine Ridge Guest House Value Proposition

We’re committed to offering an exceptional vacation experience for our guests. This includes making sure you get your money’s worth! Here are some examples of what it costs to stay with us…….

•For a Party of 16, our nightly rates are anywhere from $44 -$63 per person, depending on the season.

As you consider accommodations for your group, please compare our rates to your other options. Our per person prices are comparable to most hotels in the area, and Sunshine Ridge offers a huge, gourmet kitchen and great common areas for your group to gather. When comparing costs, also consider the money you will save by cooking instead of eating out. We’ve gone out of our way to insure you’ll have everything you need for a relaxing and comfortable vacation, at pricing that will make you wonder why you would ever go back to a hotel room.

About Shirl and Andrew Niemeyer

Our family lives in Colorado on the Front Range and we love to travel. Our favorite place to revisit is Glenwood Springs, for skiing, spring flowers, summer fun, fall leaf peeping and celebrating birthday or holidays with friends. We come to the house with many types of friends, too...yoga groups, kayak teams, College retreat groups, team building meetings for business, chefs cook-offs, weddings, and just relaxing with friends and family. Everyone we bring loves the house and the town of Glenwood Springs. We always have so much fun with our group of friends that we wanted to share the experience and opportunity with you. That is why we started renting. Read our reviews and you can see why we have been in business for 9 years. It makes us happy to know our guests are sharing great memories together at the house.

Why Shirl and Andrew Niemeyer chose Glenwood Springs

We have rented homes around the country with our family and friends for many, many years. We visited Glenwood Springs and fell in love with the town. As soon as we walked into the Sunshine Ridge Guest House, we knew that it was a perfect place to be a 'Second Home' for all and decided to purchase it for a Vacation Rental Home. It is so warm, welcoming and family friendly inside. The floor plan is perfect for a large group because there are wings where you can hide for privacy, but many options in and outside for large gatherings. The views are stunning and therapeutic. The house is located in a quiet valley, but close to town, skiing and outdoor activities. Of course, there are great options for wildlife viewing and hiking on the property, too.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I was the chef for a Yoga retreat at Sunshine Ridge in the fall of 2013. The aspens were at the height of their colorful glory. The property is quiet and beautiful in ways that only the Colorado mountains can provide. It was a restful and restorative experience, even for someone responsible for feeding everyone 3 times a day. The best guest house I have seen in Colorado. A word to the foodies: The kitchen is beautifully equipped with plenty of prep space and a Viking stove that was truly a pleasure to cook on.

Expectations Far Exceeded

  • 5 of 5
I completely agree with the other reviews that I had read on the site prior to booking the guest house. Pictures are not able to do this property justice. The well cared for house and its surroundings are dramatic. The floor plan works extremely well for families and other groups. The location feels private and secluded but the town is still close enough that we could easily do the things we wanted (and get the things we needed) without a lot of driving. We loved that house isn't visible at all from the road yet still offers incredible views. One practical suggestion, if you are driving in from Denver and are Costco members, consider making a stop at the Gypsum warehouse on the way. We were able to get much of what we needed for our large group in one quick trip.

Glenwood Springs and the Roaring Fork Valley are hidden gems with all the natural beauty and year round recreation opportunities of other Colorado tourist areas but with far greater value. I highly recommend staying long enough to take in all that the guest house and surrounding attractions have to offer. I can't recommend enough the guest house, it's owners and their local hosts.

Owner's Response: We love your practical suggestion to stop at Costco in Gypsum on the way up from Denver. There are also 2 grocery stores in Glenwood Springs for last minute items, but Costso offers the best selection and price for large groups to cook meals at home in the great kitchen at the Sunshine Ridge Guest House.

This is an amazing home for your family reunion

  • 5 of 5
The Sunshine Ridge Guesthouse in Glenwood Springs, CO is centrally located for trips to Glenwood Springs and Aspen. My out-of-town family members were “wowed” by the amenities this house offered. The kitchen has every chef’s requirements to make amazing meals. We are three sisters and family, so we took a turn each night preparing our dinners. Use your imagination and bring whatever food you need to pull off a great meal. We dined alfresco every night under a beautiful pergola with plenty of seating and the views were amazing. The night sky was lit with a view of the Milky Way—no light pollution! The sleeping arrangements for our 14-member reunion worked out perfectly. There is a sound system throughout the house to enjoy while dining along with a local musician you will meet upon arrival. His music soothes the soul. There are many delightful areas in and around the home for getting away to chat or just relax. I happily recommend the Sunshine Ridge Guesthouse for your next large getaway.

Great Place for a Reunion!

  • 5 of 5
What a fabulous place to gather with family and friends. We were a group of 16 (ages 6-80). Everyone was amazed at the beauty of the house when we first walked in: the pictures do not do it justice. With its lodge-like atmosphere, it allowed spaces to meet as a whole group, yet also provided privacy when needed. Our days were spent white water rafting, exploring the caverns, soaking in the hot springs, hiking the Maroon Bells and visiting the town of Redstone and Marble. Our evenings were spent cooking and eating in the gourmet kitchen, playing games and pool, and gathering on the spacious deck. The only missing amenity was an outdoor fire pit, which is understandable in Colorado. Nice fireplace inside, though. Thanks Shirl and Andrew for sharing your lovely guest house. We highly recommend this to friends and hope to return, ourselves, one day.

Great Reunion Location

  • 5 of 5
This beautifully decorated house exceeded our expectations. We were greeted upon arrival by the manager who gave us a welcoming tour of the house while addressing our questions about the home and the area. Our family group ranged in age from 8 months to 77 years old. The layout and amenities accommodated everyone's needs. There was ample room for gathering the whole family together at mealtime and for breaking into smaller groups for games and visiting throughout the day. The kitchen is well equipped and well designed to handle the cooking, serving and dining needs of a large group. We lingered on the large patio after dinner enjoying the scenic view and the cool evening mountain air. We enjoyed biking, fishing, hiking and nearby parks in Glenwood. Information provided by the owners regarding activities, restaurants and attractions was very helpful. We would definitely recommend the property to others. Working with the owners was a joy. They provided caring and professional customer service while being sensitive to the needs of our group.

Beautiful Sunshine Ridge Guest Home

  • 5 of 5
This is awesome home for large gatherings. We had four different families and there were plenty of large areas to accommodate us to get together but at least have our separate space. The kitchen was very well stocked and had upscale appliances. We love the patio and pergola. We would highly recommend this home to everyone.
