This spectacular Lakefront Vacation Home is located at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains, in the mountains of SC. We are in Tamassee-between Lake Jocassee and Keowee to the East, Walhalla and the Chattooga River just west, and Cashiers just to the North. Relaxing at a great lakefront retreat, enjoying Clemson Tiger football, and hiking, whitewater rafting and exploring, are all convenient and nearby. This top shelf home is located on a beautiful private 320 acre boatable lake with a large private dock, swimming area and a nice view of the SC Blue Ridge Mountains. The home has Direct TV and satellite internet. With the internet, it is easy to find out where things while you are there. This is a great family vacation rental home for both the active group and the 'kickback and relax' family. The home is very fully equipped and is very upscale, yet casual. We are on Lake Cherokee, a true hidden gem, but there is not much published on this lake. Email us for more information.

  • In addition to the beds, there is a large sectional sofa that can be used to sleep a single. We have 3 inflatable mattresses (a twin, a queen, and a double). The fourth bedroom is actually a full basement. It has a full bath. The basement door is secure. The sleeping area is separate with some privacy partitions, but is not walled off. The basement is approximately 800 sq. foot of living area and includes a pool table rec area and sofa area. The master BR has 1 Q bed. The BR is large and is on the main floor and has a private bath with both a stand-up shower and a jacuzzi tub. The internet wireless router is located in this room. There is DirectTV, a DVD/CD player, and an HP5800 printer for our guests. There are 2 bedrooms upstairs. Both have queen beds. The 2 bedrooms share a full bath. The bathroom has a private entrance from one of the bedrooms, but the other accesses it from the hallway. One of the upstairs bedrooms has Direct TV/DVD-one only a CD player.

Notes: We provide a lot of consumables including toiletries and cleaning supplies, as well as extra linens and towels. We ask our guests to bring these things, but we have extras and guests replenish as needed. There is a pool table, ping pong table, 37' flat panel HDTV over fireplace, a 32' stereo TV in basement with video game. This home is top shelf in every way. On our personal web site, we have lots more photos. If you rent this home for 2006, you have a bargain, as our pricing is reduced for this start-up year. Hiking and Waterfall Details: This is one of the best hiking areas you will find the country, especially for novice hikers. There are 20 or more nearby outstanding waterfalls, mostly off of easily hiked trails. This area of SC (Oconee County) and nearby NC (Transylvania County) has one of the densest concentrations of waterfalls in the United States. There are two reasons for this: an ample supply of water and a sudden change in elevation. The Blue Ridge escarpment provides the sudden change in elevation, separating the gentle rolling hills of the Piedmont and the more rugged terrain of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Most trails that traverse this narrow region change 2000 feet in elevation over a distance of 4 miles. There are many shorter trails and most of these waterfalls are easy and short walks from public roads. The nearby Chattooga River, which is a national protected river, has been kept 'wild and scenic' and is a great place to explore, either hiking, canoeing, or even high adventure whitewater rafting.

Lakefront Living: Our home is convenient to many nearby 'natural' places for family fun and adventure. The large mountain lake in our back yard provide options for full days of great relaxing activity, or just a place to wind down in the evenings. The lake offers fishing from our lakeside and we provide canoes and kayak for our guests. While the lake is big enough for skiing, only homeowners boats are allowed on the lake.

Golf: There are several nearby golf courses, from a par 3 course in nearby Seneca to the championship golf course at Clemson University. There are some great private courses at Lake Keowee (the Cliffs) if you have some connections. The closest 18 hole golf course to the house is about 10-15 minutes away and is a decent and inexpensive public course - Falcon's Lair, which is just off Highway 11, between the Lakehouse and the nearby town of Walhalla, SC.

Other Activities: waterfall exploration- this is the #1 area for spectacular easy-to-get-to waterfalls within a close proximity of one another in the eastern USA

Dear Marc and Sharon,

We had a wonderful time at your lake house. Your home is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The kids enjoyed playing pool and ping pong. My son loved canoeing on the the lake with his dad. They even caught a few fish. My daughter and I enjoyed shopping in Seneca and Highlands. I would have been content just to sit and read on your fabulous screened porch. There's so much to do and see in the area and we ran out of time so we'll definitely make plans to stay again.

We had a great time at the house. Fishing was good. We canoed the entire lake. It is so beautiful. I enjoyed swimming in the lake and playing pool and cooking in the spacious kitchen. A very relaxing vacation.

Just a quick note to say how much we enjoyed staying in your home this summer. The house is beautiful and the nine of us were able to relax and really enjoy the tranquillity of the Lake. Canoeing round the Lake was a real pleasure and made all the more pleasant by the warm welcome we received from many of the neighbours. The near-by waterfalls are spectacular.
