Next to Lamoine State Park, which offers boat ramp, playground, beach and picnic area, watch the fishing boats come and go. Ellsworth just eight miles for food shopping, theaters, restaurants, LL Bean outlet, and fun shopping. Bar Harbor 20 miles, great restaurants, shopping and the great Acadia National Park for hiking, biking and beautiful sightseeing along the coast. Trenton is six miles and has lobster pounds, take out restaurants, water slides, go karts, zoo and antique shops.

Perfect house for a family vacation

Maybe this is stacking the deck (since I'm Ira's wife), but he's right--this is a perfect house. Very, very clean. All the comforts (plus some) of home. Kitchen was a dream to work in. Wendy is really nice and can be reached by phone or email if questions arise.

Fabulous location near the beach, Acadia, and the coastal attractions, but far enough away from it all to really relax and feel like you're home.

There's a whole top floor for the kid(s), which our teenager thought was the best. One bathroom has a clawfoot tub. Washer and dryer, lots of chairs on the porch, and backyard tables/chairs as well. Wendy grows the best peas! Kayaks and bikes, too.

I hope we'll get another opportunity to stay here. There's so much we didn't get to do.

I stayed here with my wife and daughter last week of July 2009. It was right after the NY Times article about the horrors of vacation homes, but somewhere in either the article or the comments homeaway.com was given good marks.

Anyway, this place is fabulous. Everything described is true. I highly recommend this to anyone.

There are two beaches nearby. EIther is an easy drive or bike ride (or walk really) down the road. We followed Wendy's advice on a suggested kayak trip and it was a perfect trip.

The house is clean and has lots of rooms. The kitchen is fully equipped and its so nice just to grill outside.

Wendy was very accomodating to our questions. There really weren't many, though.

The property is on an untrafficked road but fairly close to Ellsworth which is nice for shopping, and you can always easily get to Bar Harbor bypassing Ellsworth.

Showers work. bathrooms work (the extra bathroom is really important when there are more than two in the party).

Cell phone reception was sketchy but the WIFI, VOIP phone and satellite cable are great.

I have to get me one of those pots with a clear glass lid and hole for steam.
