Perfect geta-away for a small family

We truly enjoyed our short stay at Wendy & Sterling's beautiful vacation home! It was exactly the long overdue trip that we needed. The moment we enter the property we were met with high ceilings and warm wood floors. The kitchen is much more spacious than the picture shows and the balcony is huge with plenty of seating for everyone. We also loved the fire pit and the large pile of pre-cut wood for us to use. We spent several hours by the pit in casual conversation simply enjoying the smells and sounds. You can also see stars. LOTS of stars. Most other places are too dark.
The beach club is also very nice with a great view. The food service is not the fastest around but well worth the wait. It was very tasty and the portions were large. Heated pools are great but in our time there was filled with lots of children. Great if you have kids to entertain while you kick back and enjoy a book or two. Very close to the beach club is access to the marina with. We did not spend any time on the water but they provide many rental options and their prices seems pretty affordable.
Best of all is the proximity of the cottage to the hiking trails. Right behind the cottage is a tram which was currently out of service. This is OK for my wife & I but not so much for others. The alternative is to hike down a steep hill along the tram. I would not recommend this path for most people because it is very steep and difficult to ascend. At the bottom and a short walk to the left brings you to a difficult 5 mile dirt trail (with lots of nice views). In the other direction will bring you to a much easier "moderate" 1 mile dirt trail. We love hiking and this was perfect for us. We found an alternative to get to these two trails by taking a mile hike along the sidewalk by the entrance of the parking lot. Either way, it was very pleasant.
At the end of the day, our stay at Sterling & Wendy's cottage provided the best balance of adventure and relaxation that we have ever found. It is not often that we find this combination of amenities and highly recommend this place and would love it if Sterling & Wendy allowed us to stay here again in the future.
