Description of the Oak Bluffs vacation house rental
This passive-solar home is on a quiet street near a serene and lovely beach and a 10 minute bike ride into town. Many varieties of birds visit the yard and there is a beautiful trail through the woods where deer and rabbit feed. The house has exposed beams, custom vanities and cabinets, and a fiber-glassed wood tub/shower “stall.” The open living plan features a piano, built-in cherry table and stone chimney. South-facing French doors lead to a pier-style deck. The floors are wood and flagstone with rag and dhurrie rugs. The downstairs bedroom, built like a ship's cabin, opens to a second deck and herb garden. It has hexagonal and leaded glass windows and a hatch door in the floor to the basement stairs. The two upstairs bedrooms have operable skylights and cedar closets; one has a stained glass window. The yard is furnished with table and chairs, a grill, and hammock. There are also bicycles, beach chairs, badminton, and horseshoes.

My home is on a dirt road in a quiet family neighborhood near Sailing Camp Park on Lagoon Pond, a large, gentle salt water pond ideal for small children or just getting away from the crowds. The sailboats, beach roses, schools of small fish, wild fowl, and shells make this an interesting beach to walk and to beach-comb. The other end of my street leads to a path that winds its way into acres of woodlands and the site of the now defunct Webb's campground which still has out-houses and picnic tables. My house is two miles from Oak Bluffs center where you can beach, shop, see a movie, ride the carousel, play video games, fly a kite in the park, listen to an outdoor concert, attend an art opening, go dancing, sing karaoke, buy groceries, or dine. It is a 10 minute bike ride or you can call a taxi or flag down the hourly buses near the house. In town, you can catch a bus to Edgartown or to Vineyard Haven.
