This cottage is new but evokes a classic summer in Maine feeling. Open living/kitchen/dining area situated with a lovely view of the water. You'll see egrets, great blue herons and osprey on the tidal frontage, as you watch the sun rise and sip your morning cup of coffee. Built in 2003, this cottage features pine floors, bead board walls and lots of windows to catch the view. One bedroom upstairs with a full size bed and one bedroom downstairs with a queen to sleep 4. A twin bed and two couches can accommodate 3 more if needed. Fully equipped kitchen includes a gas range, refrigerator, microwave and dishwasher. Washing machine and dryer located in the full basement. Bring your own kayaks or use the four provided to slip in the water from the front yard. Or just relax and swing in the hammocks. Close to Bowdoin College and Maine State Music Theater, restaurants, movie theaters, historic Bath, shopping in Freeport, great beaches, golf, water sports and more.
WE WERE THRILLED WITH THIS HARPSWELL VACATION RENTAL. IT HAD GREAT BEDDING, A WELL EQUIPPED KITCHEN, LAUNDRY, AND BATHROOM. WE HAD SOME RAIN, BUT WE ENJOYED GAMES, T V AND MOVIES. THE SCENERY IS BEAUTIFUL AND IT'S SOOOO QUIET. WE ENJOYED THE KAYAKS AND IT WAS A PLUS THAT WE DIDN'T HAVE TO BRING OUR OWN. THERE WAS LOTS OF MATERIAL ON THE SURROUNDING AREA TO HELP PLAN OUR WEEK. WE WOULD RETURN WITHOUT QUESTION.
We just returned from our vacation at the cottage and we were so sad to leave. The cottage was very well stocked, maintained, and in a wonderful location. We spent the days exploring Maine and the late afternoons kayaking and enjoying the hammocks. Going into town from the cottage we spotted turkeys along the road on several occasions and the bird watching was great. Thank you John and Peggy for allowing us to stay in your wonderful home, we had an incredible time
My husband and I came to Harpswell without knowing anything about Land's End or Bailey Island or even Popham Beach. We were absolutely thrilled with the location - it is the most gorgeous part of Maine that we have seen yet!! It really is almost a shame that we did so much exploring of the surrounding area, though, because this beautiful cottage offered kayaking, hammocks, the perfect lawn for picnics, cozy sunny reading nooks and so much more! Next time maybe we'll stay two weeks to really take advantage of it all. We look forward to our next trip and highly recommend this cottage to everyone.
Myself and 9 other women rented this cottage, Loved everything about it, we enjoyed it so much we actually never left except for long walks, a lobster boat ride and trip into town to pick up lobster. Lots of room for chit chatting inside, and plenty of lawn area outside to spread out on.. Owners John and Peggy are just a phone call away if you have any questions. I would highly recommend this rental, as would all my friends.
We rented this lovely cottage sight unseen, and were delighted when we arrived! Its water-front location provides a great view of the dramatically-changing tides, and the free kayaks were definitely one the best features: we could go out exploring the many islands nearby and get a feel for life in rural Maine.
The owners were always accessible by phone, and extremely helpful in providing information, even leaving a very thorough binder or two filled with recommendations for the area restaurants, sites, etc. They offer all the supplies you could possibly need, a fully-functioning and well-stocked kitchen, bbq grill, Adirondack chairs for sitting by the water, etc.
One last thing that affected us positively: the interior of this cottage showed that someone has a good eye for decorating. The wood paneling was light and gorgeous, and the furniture was put together with a certain eye for beauty that made relaxing there just so much more pleasant.
We would happily return again!
My husband and I stayed at this oceanfront cottage for a week in September 2010 and we couldn't have been more pleased with our choice! The cottage was not done justice in the pictures! It was extremely clean and very well equipped with kitchen items as well as activites to do right on the property or out in town. The owners were a pleasure to deal with, every detail was taken care of. There was an abundance of maps, restaurant menus and information on nearby sights to see. The view from the cottage is incredible and the street is quiet, which was perfect for my husband and I to get in some much needed relaxation. Overall the experience was much more than we anticipated and we are already planning our return trip for next year! I would highly recommend this property to others!
