We have spent over a year rebuilding this 1926 Craftsman Bungalow trying to maintain the integrity of the original structure but adding all the newest conveniences. Everything is NEW -: Elec/Plumb/Drywall/Windows/Doors/Kitchen/Bath. There is a large kitchen with everything you will need to cook a gourmet meal - Stainless Smoothtop Stove, Stainless Side by Side Frig with the Freezer down - great design - no more bending down all the food is at eye level - Dishwasher & Microwave of course. Full ENTERTAINMENT CENTER w/TV,DVD, VCR,Cable,Stereo. Free local & Long distance Phone Service. The entire place is done with STONE FLOORS even the OUTSIDE PORCHES which actually become an extension of the interior space since there is always a breeze - though we installed multiple CEILING FANS if it ever goes away. There are plenty of places to relax and enjoy. Games- Beach toys-Top Quality Linens-Outside SHOWER too. Walking distance to some fantastic Restaurants w/ LIVE MUSIC even a SWIMMING POOL!
How is the Beach? BEST in TOWN: Since Beaches vary so widely, I will try to point out the main differences you should ask about. First is the SAND. The Chautauqua’s sand is like powder-not coarse ground up shells like some. Great for drip castles! Second, at The Chautauqua the ocean is right AT YOUR DOOR STEP. There is no long raised boardwalk with a 5-minute walk across the dunes to navigate with the cooler & chairs before you ever get to the water. The ocean is right there. Third, there are NO CARS. This is a major distinction. Imagine trying to play paddleball or Batmitten with cars continually passing by & having to be on constant baby alert. Not while you are on vacation! Next, the beach is WIDE, level & private - no high rise condos. Some beaches are very narrow & steep. It affects the waves too. The locals consider The Chautauqua the BEST SURFING around. There 's a Surf shop with lessons & rentals at the end of our block but you can have loads of fun with the toys provide fee. No Need to worry!
How is the House? : A Classic. I fell in love the minute I saw it & have spent over a year restoring it to its former glory. Everything was replaced in 2005 w/Top of the line materials. Everything is new from the studs up. Downstairs is the CHAUTAUQUA II. Great for groups up to 7. It has its own Greatroom, Kitchen, Garage, Laundry, Oceanside Decks & Outdoor Shower .The look is different from upstairs but charming in its own way. All Stone Floor, even the walls on the Porch. The Kitchen is actually larger than the main house. All Stainless with long Glass Block under cabinet window. Great light! The Ocean side porch is great too. Really an extension of the Greatroom - Same STONE - and a wonderful place to relax. The bath is white subway tile with Pedestal sink and blue glass accents. Jetted Soaking Tub. Full Entertainment Center. The Master is Ocean side w/ Queen bed & Anderson sliders out to a Covered Porch. The other bedroom has a double bed.

I just want to say that our stay in cottage 1 downstairs was FANTASTIC in all aspects. It was the perfect size and location for our needs. A perfect vacation. Thank you again for everything.

Then in 2004, I fell in love with St Augustine Beach.
In 2005 I walked into a 1926 beach cottage direct oceanfron on St Augustine Beach and knew I had found my calling. I wanted to 'Create' a vacation space for Families. Large extended families. A place were Cousins, Grandmothers, Uncles and Aunts can comfortably come together to reconnect and enjoy each other away from the demands of the outside world.
I come from a large family of 5 children as does my husband, Brad. Some of my fondest memories are when we all got together to just 'hang out' for 3 or 4 days. The little ones always come up with a 'play'. The adults always congregate in the Kitchen passing down the 'Family Recipes' to the next generation and playing Games. We are a big Game playing family. Specifically Rummikub . If you have never played, you should. I make sure there is one in each house and once you are hooked and have one of your own, hope you will think of your St Augustine stay every time you play. (Call and I will give you the rules)
So I bought that 1926 Craftsman, gutted it and turned it into The Chautauqua which sleeps 22. It has been a rewarding success.
In 2011, my Father expanded the tradition and bought 4 homes on 3 Oceanfront lots. We could not believe our luck and spent the next year remodeling them into The Seaside Cottages. We just put them on the market in June 2012.
Now I manage all 5.
The Best part is not only the houses but the BEACH. There are only 18 streets on the “Best Beach” - No cars. No Catwalk. The ocean right at your door. Everything within walking distance…. And we now have homes on 2 of the them!
