The Hawaiian Monarch is at the entrance of Waikiki and has the best panoramic views. The Hawaiian Monarch is close to the night life and only minutes walk from the beautiful beaches of Waikiki. Walk to Hard Rock Cafe, Hawaii Convention Center, Fort DeRussy, Ala Moana Shopping Center, and the world famous Hilton Hawaiian Village Resort.

Tony Romas Steakhouse is just around the corner and kids eat free on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Be sure you also try the very delicious Kobe burger at Waikiki Burger restaurant right across our building. Also try the yummy Poke salad (salmon sashimi) at the Japanese restaurant on the first level of our building.

Exceeded expectations

Amazing views from all rooms. It was so comfortable that we ended up staying in for dinner most nights. Free parking one and two streets over. Comfortable and quiet. We had a family of 5 adults and we had room to spread out or gather for conversation. I would recommend it. We would return here again in a heartbeat! Easy walk to Hilton Hawaiian Village.

Owner's Response: Aloha! Thanks for your kind words….very positive! The owner and our staff have that goal to make your experience a pleasurable and memorable visit. You mentioned the "Hilton Hawaiian Village" is an important key to mention to our visitors who never been here. We are one of the closets in proximity in Waikiki that offers a (2 bedroom 2 bath unit with washer/dryer and full kitchen with ocean views and upgraded) suite at a fraction of the cost compared to the Hilton and most other hotels. Family's can still enjoy a short stroll to the Hilton and enjoy its shopping boutique stores, eateries, waterscapes and most of all its beach fronting the Hilton and Hale Koa Hotel. This side of Waikiki Beach is the better stretch of sandy beach where the other end has its challenges with too much beach users and little beach area to accommodate. Regards to finding parking, this is amazing to know you found free parking. In Waikiki one of the lowest daily rates offered in a Hotel is the Hawaiian Monarch. Other nearby Hotels are $30-$40 daily rates. Hawaiian Monarch parking is relatively lower. All the best to you and your family and hope you return to Hawaii soon! Rick, staff and the owner

Wonderful Hawaii Getaway Penthouse

We rented this wonderful penthouse for the month of February. The views were amazing! We loved the fireworks every Friday evening. The managers, Rick and Chris, were very friendly and helpful and met our every needs. The welcome basket was a nice touch, and the kitchen was wonderful to prepare meals. The walking distance to the beach was 10-15 minutes, rather than 5, but that gave us more exercise. We purchased and left 2 beach chairs and a cookie sheet for future renters to use. There is plenty of room for 6 people to stay. We also appreciated being able to stay late the day of our departure. We would definitely stay here again. Thank you Rick and Chris! Mahalo!

Great location!

What can I say that hasn't already been said by the other reviewers? My wife and I stayed 10 days and had a blast. Very spacious apartment, with wraparound views to die for. We could watch the fireworks from the Hilton Hawaiian Village every Friday nite from our windows on the 42nd floor. Easy walking distance to resort row on Waikiki Beach and Luxury Mile shopping. Even closer to the Ala Moana mall. And the Cream Pot restaurant in the building's lobby does killer breakfast and brunch. A couple of small maintenance issues were resolved quickly and courteously by the managers, Rick and Chris. All in all, a great find. We almost cried when we left.

Perfect for Us

I attended an International Conference in Waikiki and wanted to be able to bring my wife and two young adult sons for an add-on vacation. This location could not have been more ideal for us. The communication with the owner and manager, Rick and Chris, was excellent - quick and friendly response and helpful information - everything was exactly as communicated. Rick and Chris also went well beyond expectations in accommodating our needs on our final travel day.

The apartment was spacious, well appointed, with a beautiful view of Diamond Head and the entire ocean front. The convenience of the location was exceptional. My conference at a beach front hotel and resort was literally a two-block walk. The Beachwalk shopping and restaurant area was a pleasant 12 minute stroll. We tried some of the little restaurants in and around the apartment and were pleasantly surprised to find some very inexpensive but great spots - including a great Pho Restaurant in the next building, an all-night cafe just two blocks away (perfect if you arrive late) and of course all of the great beach front bars and restaurants starting at the Hilton Hawaii Village and moving along the beach - all an easy walk.

We also rented a car from a car rental agency in Waikiki (half the price of an airport rental) and the parking at the Hawaiian Monarch was very convenient - with a 5 story parking garage - easy in and out - and located right next to major streets to allow easy access to Waikiki and relatively easy access to the H1.

Thanks Rick and Chris - this was perfect in so many ways.

Great views but....

Views were stunning and the condo was comfortable. Don't confuse "penthouse" with "palatial". The condo is old and has been updated in certain areas - the kitchen and hardwood floor. The air conditioner ran all day and wasn't very effective. On sunny days the south facing bedroom was very warm - even with the air on. I think better window treatments would help. There were only sheers. Bathroom in south bedroom is very small. Vacuum didn't work. Having said all that tho, we didn't spend that much time indoors so it was alright. Welcome package was a nice touch. Wouldn't recommend this for families with young children as the windows open - and it's a long way down!! Security check in was in a dismal room. Front desk won't look after your luggage as the room is not part of the hotel, so we had to cart luggage around Waikiki as our plane didn't leave until the evening. The whole building is old - but if that doesn't matter to you, go for it. Lobby small with no amenities except a small restaurant that 's open for breakfast/brunch only.

So, we are in the process of the following improvements: 1.Thicker window covering in addition to existing 2.Improve the one bath plumbing concern 3.Vaccum Cleaner 4.replace missing mixing bowl for the cooking enthusiast (sorry about that….) Regards to the window safety. There is an existing device that blocks the window from opening all the way. This is a prevention and safety. Only an adult could negotiate this device using a wrench or pliers. Regards to Security Office; it is undergoing a renovation process moving the security and management office to a new location next door. Good News is that the present Security Office will be turned into a fitness center for our future guests! Regards to luggage; there is a terms and conditions that informs a guest of the check in and check out times. we sometimes go beyond this with some courtesies if there is no same day check in and the unit is vacant we absolutely can accommodate the luggage. We are not far from Hilton which demands a substantial higher rate especially on special holiday season. We try to have a quality product with the same feel and with a substantially lower rate to be affordable. This of course is all relative…. We look forward in your return and would like to offer discounts to return guests and see our improvements! Thanks for the 4 Stars!!! Rick

My family and I stayed for a little less than a week. We loved every minute of it. Condo was very spacious and in a perfect location. Rick and Chris went over and above for us, truly showing the aloha spirit. WE would like to rent it again next time
