Take in the raw beauty of the ocean: No neon lights here. Only the light houses of Thacher Island. An occasional car on this road is as busy as it gets. The only traffic around here are the lobster boats. Very safe haven for families with children. Nice and quiet for the adults. White sandy beach is a 1/2 mile away. Rocky beach within 100 yards. Restored 100 year old bed and breakfast with all the charm of a by-gone era. Feel the excitement build as you come up the hill approaching the Manor. For a brief time you will call THIS 'home.' Listen to the waves crash and whistle blow from the lighthouse as you unpack and anticipate your week ahead. Roam around a bit before everyone gets here and pick a bedroom - it may take a while. There are 10, all are different. Leaving all of this beauty and will not be easy. You will yearn all winter to return. 'Maybe next year 2 weeks!' To build more memories...
Our experience with renting Rocky Shores Manor was amazing! Chrissy and Keith are amazing people, they are accomodating and the keep their house in pristine condition! I had a wonderful weekend with my friends, culminating in a clambake that will remain in memory for MANY years to come...
I would highly recommend renting this gorheous property and look forward to doing it again in the near future!
A group of couples went to this home to celebrate being empty nesters. The owners of the home could not have been nicer! The home was spacious, beautifully decorated, comfortable ...and the list goes on. The kitchen was perfect for entertaining, the house was meticulous, the porch...there are not enough words to describe the porch... I would rent this house again in a second...which we did...
Our senior citizens from church just spent a wonderful week at Rocky Shores. Everyone was excited to stay in a house that had many of the attributes of homes of their childhood, bringing back many fond memories. Morning coffee on the porch, watching the sun rise and a gentle sea breeze was a joy for all. Keith is a very gracious host, spent a lot of time answering many questions about the history of the manor. There were twenty of us here and at no time were we cramped or in each others way. In the event any one is curious, the photos DO NOT even come close as to how wonderful this place is. Great place for visiting Maine and eastern N.H. as well as north Ma. nice train ride to Boston.
Well, what can I say. Our week in your amazing home was nothing short of MAGICAL!!! The house was absolutely perfect for our family of 19, everyone having plenty of room to roam as well as privacy. My husband and I had the blue room upstairs and loved it. The house is wonderful. As my Dad said, "you can look around and not find a single thing that needs repair". You guys do an amazing job with it. All of the neighbors were very nice and tolerant of us. Cape Hedge beach was our go to spot each day. Not crowded and so clean. Ironically as I sat there and stared at the grey house at the end of the street I realized that almost 29 years ago this month my husband and I spent a two night honeymoon in there when it was the Cape Hedge Guest Inn. Spoke with the family and they still own the property. We had a wonderful 80th birthday party for my Dad and Donald from Harvest Catering was on site for the dinner. We sat 35 of us on the veranda and it was heavenly. All our guests were envious at what a wonderful place we had to stay in. We also had a fantastic sunset sail with a lobster bake from Gloucester House on the Thomas Lannon. Great folks and my father spent the whole night trading sailing adventures with the captain. Another highlight.
We were so incredibly lucky with the weather. Everyday perfect and the nights!!! Oh my goodness, the full moon rising over Thatcher Island was to die for. Thank you for arranging all of that. And thank you for letting us be your guests.
We rented Rocky Shores for a family reunion that included 4 couples and 5 singles. We loved that everyone had their own room and private bath, the porch had plenty of rocking chairs and sofas for all and the view to the ocean with sunrises and moon rises was breathtaking. We loved the kitchen with appliances, dishes and cutlery, pots and pans galore. We loved the spacious downstairs and dining area where we all could eat. We loved the porch that seated 22 for a special lunch. We loved that the owners cared so much about their house and about the success of our stay. We loved that they were immediately responsive to any questions we had.
This lovely, unique home and location contributed to a perfect, always-to-be remembered family reunion and vacation.
This is a wonderful home with terrific views of the ocean. The 10 bedrooms with individual baths make it a perfect place for a large family reunion or get away. The host and hostess are accommodating - beautiful front porch for lounging. Just a wonderful spot. We had the dress rehearsal dinner there (a fabulous clambake done by the owner's brother-in-law) and people just had a wonderful time.
