We are located on Howe Bay, along the north-eastern coastline of the island, 10 minutes from the small harbour town of Souris (bank, post-office, groceries, hardware store, pharmacy, hospital...) and 45 minutes from Charlottetown, the island's capital city.
Some nearby attractions: Championship Golfing (Dundarave, The Links at CrowBush); Greenwich Dunes National Park... a long hike through gorgeous sand dunes and interpretive path; Basin Head Beach... a favorite hot spot for many of our summer guests; North Lake Harbour... home to the tuna fisheries and deep sea fishing expeditions; The East Point Lighthouse, still in use, the most easterly point on the island; Outdoors concerts of fiddle music or 'ceilidh' on Thursday nights at the Rollo Bay field, home of the talented and well known Chaisson Family; summer theater, blueberry picking, clamming, seal watching cruises, sea-kayaking, confederation trail biking...
Other Activities: We fell in love with Howe Bay the moment we saw it! That was almost 20 years ago... All these many years later, we still marvel at the magnificent scenery of Howe Bay, forever changing and reappearing right in front of you... Plan to walk and explore the deserted beaches, clam flats and vast sandbars... At low tide, take the canoe over the deep water channel in the middle of the bay to the even greater expanse of sand bars across the way... Splash with your little ones into wonderful pools of water left behind by the tide over the sand and heated by the sun... Feel the undulating ridges of sand under your feet and run far over the shallow water and into the surf... Dive from the sandy point into the deep water of the channel and try swimming against the current or let it wash you over to the flats... Then, on a quiet evening, enjoy a lively bonfire while looking at the still waters of the bay!
