We enjoyed our stay in unit 14D very much. We had stayed in Hali'i Kai last year in building #15 and liked the location and view so much we booked a 10 day period this year (Jan 2009).
The unit is very comfortable, we used only the master bedroom as there was only the two of us. The pool is great and staff at the beach club very helpful.
Susie was extrememly prompt in replying to e-mails when I was booking the accomodation.
I would highly recommend getting out and doing a few hikes - in particular doing the two hikes (one on either side of Waipio Valley). When you do the hike at the end of the hwy past Hawi make sure you not only hike down to the beach but continue across the valley floor and go up the trail to the top. We went about 5 mins past the gate and got a nice view BUT others said to continue about 15-20 mins past the gate to a bench.
On the other side, go to the end of the hwy that goes through the little town of Waipio and park at the end of the road. The walk down is very steep but only 1 mile. It takes about 30 mins going down and 35 - 45 coming back up. Great views here even if you don't do the walk.
