Chebeague Island:
This is the largest Casco Bay island not connected by bridge to the mainland. The history of Chebeague includes Native Americans for whom the island was a favorite summer spot. Europeans and then Americans have inhabited the islands for over 300 years. The fishing community is historic, authentic, and still in tact. You can get live lobsters delivered to your door. This is truly the best tasting lobster!
Our view is of the outer islands and 'Halfway Light' lighthouse, and the edge of the Atlantic ocean. The daytime ranges from fogbound grey to brilliant blue sky and sea. At sunset the islands light up one by one. At night, the moonlight's reflection pours through the islands like spilt milk.
During the day, running, walking, cycling, beach combing, exploring nearby islands, swimming, golf, tennis, boating, and book reading are all good things to do. Being off the mainland is in itself an excellent activity.
Golf:
1920's vintage golf course, the great Chebeague Island Golf Club right down the road, near the Stone Piar.
Other Activities:
Although we don't supply the boat, sailing and motoring are first rate.
