This air conditioned ranch-style house with cedar siding and mahogany decks is located on 1.8 acres of secluded forest property in Hither Woods. It offers an over-sized 52' X 16' pool with bluestone patio and an outdoor shower. It's a 5-minute drive to Montauk village or the nearest beaches. The house's interior has a bright, airy living and dining area with cathedral ceiling, hardwood floors, light modern furniture, a flat screen cable TV and WiFi Internet access. The windows frame views of the forest, inviting nature into the house. Each of the 3 bedrooms has a sliding glass door that opens onto the deck and overlooks the pool & surrounding forest. The 2 and 1/2 baths include a shower and a 'for-two' bathtub! Gourmets will enjoy the high-end stainless steel Kitchen-Aid appliances, which complement the limestone countertops and natural wood kitchen cabinets. The deck is furnished with teak furniture and a superb professional stainless steel gas barbecue.

We are a family of 4 with 5 years old twins. The kids' great grandmother has a dog so pets are welcome ! We built this house in 2005 and love going there. Since we now live abroad we rent it in the summer and enjoy hearing how much people have liked spending time there.

The Hamptons are well known for their unique charm, thanks to well preserved architecture, carefully controlled development and wildlife reserves. Montauk itself is surrounded by national parks. Its beaches are miles long and offer a variety of activities and sports. Summer night life is fun and varied with several bars and seafood restaurants, cinema and concerts. During the winter it can be a delightful quiet getaway.

Hither Hills State Park with its extensive trails and beaches is a few minutes from our house by car or bicycle. Other famous Montauk and Hamptons beaches also are close by. Access to most land and water sports is easy. Children's summer camps and other children's activities also are plentiful. In Montauk you will feel you are at the end of the world in a calm, natural environment but not far from all the comforts, activities and sophistication of the modern world.

What a great family vacation house. We stayed here for 2 weeks in the summer and were so glad to be away from the beaten path. This house is tucked away in Heather Hills, which is wooded, quiet and beautiful. The kids could ride their skateboards and bikes on the dead-end road and jump into the pool to cool off. The open layout is fantastic, with a great kitchen. Every evening we'd grill on the balcony and enjoy a fabulous view of the pool and woods below. Very peaceful. It's easy to get to the beach, not congested. We rode bikes along the bike path to the beach and to town. We spent some time at Gurney's Inn to take advantage of their spa - a great way to relax. This is a terrific house, very comfortable, not stuffy, clean and efficient. Nice open floor plan, good light and cheerful.
