ABOUT US AND THIS PROPERTY:
Please note that we are very experienced in home rental. With the assistance of our caretaker, we have successfully rented the home each summer week since 2004, delivering it clean, equipped, and on time. We think this is important to families who arrive ready for their vacation to begin and trusting that all promises will be kept.
This property is actually our home although we are currently living and working in Florida for another three years or so. Then we intend to spend summers and autumn in Maine again and enjoy that fabulous Maine lifestyle. Until then we want to rent and share our beloved lakeside home with others who share our love for all things Maine. Still not convinced? Contact us directly for more information and a link to our Shutterfly website for more photos and details. Thanks for looking, Paul and Becky Comeau.
A NOTE ABOUT THE WOODSTOVES. HOME INSURANCE REGULATIONS PROHIBIT THE USE OF WOODSTOVES IN THIS RENTAL.
FOR YOUR SAFETY:
Our guests agree that this is a restful and comfortable home. We have equipped it with everything you need for a wonderful vacation. All the toys are there - from a leaky old row boat to kayaks to porch rockers. There is a good selection of board games, Nintendo, Direct TV, VCR and DVD family and classic movies, and adult and children's books to curl up with. One important distinction - this is a home not a cottage. There is a drilled well and central heat for your comfort.
While this is a very safe child friendly place, please note that the use of boats, kayaks, flotation devices, and water toys are at your own discretion. We ask that all persons behave responsibly and that children are supervised closely at all times, especially when in or near the water or the granite wall at water's edge. The use of Personal Flotation Devices is recommended for all persons using water craft of any kind. FYI, the State of Maine requires a fishing license for all persons age 12 and over
ABOUT LOWER PATTEN POND:
Technically it's a lake and it even has a sister lake called 'Upper Patten Pond'. Lower Patten Pond is 741 acres and about three miles long. It's big enough for exploration, canoing, kayaking, boating, and good fishing. It's small enough to discourage a lot of 'day trip', local boat traffic. What this means is that the lake is unusually quiet and peaceful, not a lot of jet skis or other noise (although the bullfrogs really get going for a while in the evening). There is a pair of eagles that work the lake and usually 2-4 Loon pairs. They have their chicks in May and by early summer those little families are out on the lake too (unless the eagles or turtles get the chicks). There is a public boat landing. We really enjoy lake living. We love the safety, the serenity, and the warm water for swimming. We also love the fact that we can be at the ocean, beaches, or the bays in 30 minutes for a change of pace. It really is the best of both worlds.
