Overview

Historic Center Apartment Rental Photos and Description

Apartment, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 3.5 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

Just steps away from the Ponte Vecchio, on the “Oltrarno” side of the historic center of Florence, this lovely and elegant home provides all of the comforts of the modern world combined with the rich history of the 15th Century.

This home used to be the 'Forni Reali' or royal bakery serving the Medici and later the Italian royal family when they occupied the Palazzo Pitti. It comprises 130 square meters (approx. 1,399 sq. ft), and has 3 bedrooms, each with private bathroom, a large living room and fully-equipped modern kitchen, small study and additional half bath. The apartment sleeps 6-8 people, and wraps around a lovely courtyard garden adorned with flowers, fountain and goldfish. Decorated both for comfort and charm, the home contains an eclectic mix of antiques and modern furniture.

The apartment has its own separate entrance on the ground floor, only one step up from the street, and is equipped with all necessary amenities, including central heat and air conditioning, satellite t.v. and DVD/VCR player, Internet connection, dishwasher, full size refrigerator, and washing machine. One of the owners is an artist who splits his time between Florence and New York City, and many of his original artworks are exhibited in the home, including large oil paintings in the living room, and frescoes in the bedroom.

The apartment is located on a pedestrian-only street just off a charming piazza. There you will find a famous restaurant and delightful cafe. Just 3-4 minutes away you will find the Ponte Vecchio, and you can walk to the Duomo and Piazza della Signoria in 5-10 minutes. A parking garage is located 1 minute away, and local bus stops servicing all parts of the city are also just minutes away.

Charming apartment - great location!

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful apartment - immaculate, well appointed, and in our opinion, the best location in the city. We definitely preferred staying in the Oltrarno area of Florence - the other side of the river, near the Pitti Palace, but very close to the Ponte Vecchio and a short 10 minute stroll to the historic center. Loads of wonderful restaurants, cafes, and shops (think leather!) but quieter and less touristy than the center - with lower prices as well. Our lovely hostess, Katerina, met us on arrival and gave us a lot of great information and a map of tourist spots and restaurants. From the moment of our first inquiry about the rental until check-out, all details were handled very promptly and very professionally. FYI - a few steps from the apt. at the end of Via Toscanella (the street where the apt. is located) at the corner of Borgo San Jacopo is a wonderful wine shop - Enoteca Obsequium. Every evening starting at 6pm, you can enjoy a glass of wine and a selection of their wonderful Tuscan tapas for only 7 Euros per person - that was our dinner one night. We hope to return to Florence at some point in the future and we will definitely stay at this lovely apt. again.

Perfect Apartment in the Perfect Location

  • 5 of 5

Our family (4 adults and 2 children) had an absolutely wonderful time in Florence in large part due to our experience with this home. It is beautiful and perfectly located in the Oltrarno quarter of Florence. Good restaurant options abound and a quaint gelato shop is only a few doors away. The staff made it easy to rent, check-in/out, and booked our taxi reservations for the return to the airport. Everything a tourist would want to see in Florence is just a short walk away. We highly recommend this apartment and will look to book here again on our next trip to Florence.

Extraordinary Location and Property

  • 5 of 5

I don't write reviews, but our stay at this property was simply extraordinary - so I feel compelled. The location is second to none. It is close to the hustle and bustle, yet removed sufficiently to exude privacy. The property is large and comfortable. It is also conveniently located to all major attractions - truly walking distance. You are essentially a neighbor to the Medici palace. The owner and the onsite support are delightful and extremely helpful. A good friend, long time Florence resident, came to visit us and even he was impressed by the location and the property. Another nice plus, the property is very nicely appointed, including very nice, original art created by the owner. I look forward to returning to Florence, not only for the gelato (and incidentally a gelateria is basically right outside the door of the property) and the other obvious attractions, but to stay at this property yet again. I can't say enough about it. Safe travels to you all.

best place to stay in Florence!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this fabulous apartment with our family including 2 toddlers, 9 of us in total in April. We had the most wonderful time & it is in the perfect location, the Oltrano which is mostly populated by locals, we felt very welcome. The apartment is clean & well equipped with all the essentials & more. Just across the Ponte Vecchio from all the action, but a 5 minute walk to be in the town center, it was our first time in Italy & we had no problems getting anywhere we wanted. This home has a wonderful little piazza steps from the door with a coffee house, restaurant & gelato bar. Marco at the coffee house serves a wonderful quick breakfast & cafe morning thru mid-afternoon, in the afternoons & evenings it becomes a cocktail & small plates stop off.

Alkan was very prompt & helpful in his communications with us. We were greeted at the apartment by warm & wonderful Katerina, who made us feel so welcome. She was very helpful with recommendations for restaurants & shopping needs. She spent plenty of time with us to make sure that all of our needs were met when we checked in as well as when we checked out. She also connected us to Veronica who we hired as a tour guide for a half day. Veronica was also extremely nice & gave us a fabulous tour of Florence including a few places that we would never have stopped in to visit.

We would stay here again in a minute & can only hope that we return soon!

Great experience!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful vacation visiting with our college age kids on spring break! The apartment was very comfortable, spacious, very clean, looked like the pictures and had everything we needed. Great location, central to everything with a great bakery, restaurants and grocery store near by. It was enjoyable to be able to come back to the apartment at the end of a full day and relax, drink wine and plan our next day! Booking the apartment, check in and check out was a breeze and everyone was very helpful and and answered all our questions. Would recommend to family and friends and hope to return one day!

Awesome Place!

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed in this garden home for five nights. It was great! We were three couples. It is in a really great location, surrounded by locals, wonderful restaurants, the best natural gelato you will ever eat and a pastry shop steps away. It is just a few blocks from the shopping bridge. It is an easy walk to everything you will want to see in Florence. I would definitely stay there again!
