Jonesport Vacation Rental house

I have been visiting Jonesport since my childhood, so the town itself holds a very special place in my heart. Having grown up in Southern Maine, I have seen much of the coastline be spoiled by development. Jonesport is one of the few places that has not changed very much at all over the years. It is still relatively "undiscovered" by tourists which is one the things we love about it. The views of the islands and the coastline are exquisite.

We have stayed at this property for the last 2 years for a week in August (though i wish it could be more). We absolutely love it. We have 2 small energetic boys and it is more than spacious enough for our family and all of the luggage, toys, etc that we bring along. The front of the house is basically all window both upstairs and down, giving a view of the ocean and the islands that can not be topped. In the morning, it is so quiet that the only sound one can hear is the low hum of the lobster boat motors in the distance. This is the getaway that i look forward to all year.

The house is very clean and well equipped with a nice sized yard as well. My boys love the fact that in August they can walk outside the back door and pick blueberries. There is a rocky beach down the hill in front of the house that is good for a stroll. We generally spend our beach days at Sandy River Beach which is down the road a short distance. It is a large sandy beach that on its busiest day may have 40 people on it and is great for sunbathing and collecting sea glass.

We don't generally dine out while we are in Jonesport because it is easier to dine in with the kids, but there are some good restaurants in Machias (about a 45 minute ride). The Artisan's Cafe is open for lunch and dinner and is great. Helen's Restaurant has great food and incredible pies (if you go you must try the fresh raspberry cream pie...unbelievable!). Our favorite dining experience is cooking fresh lobsters and eating them out on the deck while enjoying the scenery. You can buy lobsters right off the dock downtown fresh from the boat! Just eat them before dusk or the mosquitos will be sharing your feast.

I go to Jonesport to relax and enjoy my family, but there are things to do if you really want to leave the serenity of Jonesport behind. There are 2 local golf courses. Bar Harbor and Campobello are each within 1 hour drives. There is also a puffin tour out of Jonesport. I highly recommend this property for a relaxing vacation getaway.
