Some details about the Yankee Belle:
The master bedroom has a queen bed, from which you can watch the sun rise over the Atlantic. Also on the main/upper floor are an adjoining full bathroom with tub/shower, plus kitchen, living and dining rooms, surrounded on three sides with thermal, screened, double-hung windows. Sunsets are viewable across the Basin to the west from the dining room and kitchen. The living, dining, kitchen and master bedrooms have 12' ceilings with ceiling fans, and the master has two skylights. Off the living room on the ocean side is an open, railed deck, with gas grill, table, umbrella and chairs.
Downstairs on the ground floor is a guest bedroom, which has a queen bed and three windows, plus a den/TV room with five windows, and two double-size foldout sofas for additional sleeping space. Also on the ground floor are a second, full, windowed bath with a washer & dryer, plus storage and utility rooms.
The Yankee Belle was once a hot dog stand, later a gift shop, and was used by the current owner as a summer cottage from 1979 until it was completely rebuilt from the foundation up and winterized in 2000. We're on Northern Boulevard, two or three minutes walk from Mad Martha's, and five or six from Dick's Variety Store. The Parker River Nature Reserve is a fifteen minute bike ride. The surf is 150 yards from the house at high tide.
The Yankee Belle is a treasure. The house is perfect. It has an open and airy concept that is so cozy and inviting. It is clean and equipped with everything you need. The washer and dryer are an added plus. We enjoyed our coffee on the back deck each morning watching the sun rise. Over the dune is a lovely beach that is so clean and not over crowded. We enjoyed the sun and the ocean each day and our only concern was what bathing suit to wear. It was quiet and peaceful just what we needed. Newburyport is just over the bridge with its cool shops and wonderful restaurants, but honestly once you settle in the Yankee Belle you don't want to leave. We were so sad when our week ended. We look forward to next summer enjoying the Yankee Belle. Thank-you Kerry for sharing your little piece of paradise.
My husband and I quite honestly don't know where to begin. The Yankee Belle is a place that will never be forgotten, and will absolutely be revisited. The house itself is perfectly situated on the dunes of Plum Island. The setup of the home itself is perfect for entertaining guests, with a wonderful separate area for visitors, including a separate bath. The ocean views and sounds made for a perfect relaxing retreat. A place to forget about all the cares in the world. Kerry was very accommodating as well. She was completely delightful to correspond with. She was available when anything was needed, but we felt a great deal of privacy as well. We look forward so much to our return to the Yankee Belle.
We have 2 weeks left here. Wonderful place. We have shared it with children, grandchildren and friends. Great location. Very comfortable. Just have to talk my husband into next August.
We even had a chance to meet the owners. Very nice people and we love their little piece of heaven.

What can I say that the title does not. My husband rented this heavenly place to celebrate my 50th birthday. Every aspect of this house and location is the stuff of dreams. From the sunrise, gently waking us every morning, to the waves crashing both ways on the sandbar, the low-key old charm of Plum Island and the comfort of the home itself. We loved the spaciousness of the breezy, sunlit living room, where we would relax - listening to oldies on North Shore 104fm radio after a day on the beach or at Parker River refuge, looking at birds (or strolling to the southern most point of Plum Island). The deck was wonderful for morning tea and welcoming the day and greeting the morning tide (the lovely rose hips were in our near view). The house is equipped with all manner of supplies and necessities you would need to entertain - we had several cookouts on the deck and made good use of the kitchen and its supply of utensils and serving ware.
The kids loved the feature of the sandbar - where the confluence of two currents has the waves crashing together from two directions. It was really spectacular as well and provided hours of body surfing fun.
The house was clean, well-appointed and convenient to any of the local businesses - the convenience mart, the liquor store, mad Martha's Cafe and the Plum Island grille. We left the island twice - once for dinner in Newburyport (where there are many options in all dining categories) and the other to take the catamaran ride from the Newburyport waterfront. Otherwise, we were content to enjoy the wealth of natural beauty from the beach or on the deck of the Yankee Belle. Indelible in my mind is the imprint of pristine beauty and relaxation that Yankee Belle provided us on our well-needed vacation. We hope to return many times.
This house worked out great for us. Great access to a beautiful wide beach that goes for miles. The upstairs (master bedroom, family room, kitchen/dining room) is in great shape. Great views of ocean (over sand dune) from family room and deck and great light throughout. Master is interior room with glass doors that look out through windows on the side of family room. Has blinds for privacy but best if you dont need them. Cable modem with wired internet access. Road is a bit noisy but only really an issue in kitchen/dining room and downstairs den. Downstairs (awkward den, nice second bedroom, and second bath) is dark and a bit worn. Overall it was very nice. The minor flaws were quickly forgotten as we were absorbed into the beautiful location. We definitely would go back.
The place was excellent! Too a family of two teens around “14" and parents and grandma. The pictures and description is correct. We all were very happy with the living space and comfortable with the location of the house. I think it was the best location on the island! The only complaint I would have is the stove in the kitchen (very old). As we pulled away from the house the kids asked to return the following year. The Beach was clean and not over crowd. We will see you again next year. Thanks Kerry for the wonderful experience..
Plum Island is a barrier island in the Atlantic Ocean off Newburyport, Mass, at the mouth of the Merrimac River, near the Massachusetts-New Hampshire border. The northern tip of the island is populated, and the southern portion -over 7 miles of pristine beach and dunes- is home to the Parker River Nature Reserve.
