This home was completed in 2007 and designed to be a very beautiful and comfortable vacation guest home. Being a 2nd story residence it is very private and secure. Natural light fills all rooms. It was professionally decorated with rattan, hardwood, tile floors and wool rugs. Main floor deck overlooks a small park and has small eating and lounge areas. A spacious view rooftop deck has a large eating area, gas grill and large lounging/sunning area.
We feel Coronado is one of the nicest small towns in the world. Take an evening walk to any of the dozens of restaurants and follow that up with a quiet romantic walk on the beach or a stroll along the bay where you can view the evening lights (nightly fireworks in summer from Sea World) of the downtown San Diego Skyline!
We arrived and were promptly greeted by the owner, who gave us helpful information for our stay. He was always available to assist with additional items that were needed to make our stay more enjoyable. The location is great. Closer to the bayside but an easy walk or beautiful bike ride to the Main Beach. I have stayed at various locations on the island over the years and this by far is my favorite rental.
My husband and I have rented thru VRBO for many years both in Carlsbad and Coronado. This is absolutely the best place ever! Beautiful space, well designed and maintained, awesome outdoor space (2 large well-furnished spaces with great views) and close to everything.
Clark was a pleasure to do business with and inquired often if there was anything we needed. If you are going to Coronado it would be impossible to find a better place to stay. I was so surprised by the previous review. It's like they must have stayed somewhere else. As for us, we are already planning a longer stay here next year.
I'm not one to ever leave reviews, whether good or bad, but in this situation I feel potential renters need to be aware of what they are in for.
The owner of the property was extremely rude, curt, and condescending from the moment I first made contact with him. We have used VRBO dozens of times and have been treated with warmth and care from the get go. This owner was as far from warm and inviting as you can get. His initial email response to our rental inquiry stated if we thought our kids were going to destroy the place then we needed to rent elsewhere. His rudeness was the first red flag. After agreeing to rent from him he promised to get us the rental agreement, we never received it nor heard back from him. I emailed him to tell him we would rent elsewhere given that we hadn't heard from him. He had some excuse as to why he never wrote up our rental agreement and gave us references to prove he was legit. I called the reference and got a good review, and figured it would be okay. When I told him I had sent the check and emailed to make sure he received it his responses were always - will you stop worrying! Days before our trip we hadn't heard anything from him in regards to check in instructions. I emailed him and his response was - the house will be unlocked. That's it! When we arrived I called him and he had no idea who I was. Eventually he figured out who I was and met us at the property.
The stay was fine. The house was satisfactory (although a bit smaller than the photos make it look) There were a few things that were broken - dishwasher was useless, washing machine needed repair, and the propane heaters on the deck were broken. But the unit met our needs. Prior to leaving we tidied up, swept, and left it ready for the cleaners (which we paid for with our cleaning fee). We returned from our trip to an extremely rude and downright judgmental email from the owner telling us he was deducting additional cleaning charges from our deposit because of how dirty the house was. (Mind you he never gave us ANY departure instructions AND we paid a cleaning fee!) But he didn't stop there... he had to go on to tell us we broke the 6 year cleaning record and that he assumed "we have live in help at home" His comments were completely unnecessary and harsh. He said he wanted to end this immediately and that we both should have trusted our instincts from the start in regards to us renting elsewhere.
What an awful way to to end a trip to beautiful San Diego
My partner and I spent three weeks in Paradise recently as Coronado is such an idyllic place: spectacular beaches, tons of great restaurants and shops but all contained in certain places, leaving most of the island quiet, residential and charming. This house was perfect for us: classy, super-functional with everything one could wish for in a home including bikes for touring the pretty streets. All of Coronado is a ten minute bike ride away with this home situated in one of the most tranquil parts of the island. San Diego is a ten minute drive across the bridge with countless sights to see. The view from the roof deck of San Diego by night, across the bay, was stunning!! Craig took excellent care of us and we would return again in a heartbeat. You will be very, very fortunate if you are able to schedule time in this lovely home. Melanie from Ontario, Canada
This property is just as advertised, and more. It has a charm to it that can't be explained in an ad. Owners are very hospitable and helpful. Bikes, beach chairs/towels, fully equipped kitchen...everything you could need. Rooftop deck is so private. Unit is separated from main residence so very comfortable to be there. Quiet street. Hated to leave!
City of Coronado has extensive free or minimum cost sevices such as beach, pool, tennis, golf, library etc. all within a 1 1/2 mile distance.
