BRUM CHALET, BEAUTIFUL CEDAR HOME ABUTTING ACADIA NATL PARK.

Otter Creek Chalet Rental Photos and Description

3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, sleeps 6

This charming cedar home is close to Bar Harbor and Seal Harbor. It affords privacy as well as easy access to all of Acadia. Enjoy morning breakfast out on the wrap around deck overlooking Cadillac Mountain. Step out your door and take a short walk to Otter Cove. Our cedar home has 2 bedrooms and bath, with kitchen, living room, dining on the main floor. Upstairs is a balcony sitting room with one bedroom and 1/2 bath. The lower level has an extra room, for play or solitude with a full bath and washer and dryer.

Peace and Tranquility, yet close to everything: Brum Chalet is located in the small town of Otter Creek, so when you come back from your busy day of hiking, walking, shopping or just lounging on the rocks at the ocean, you can feel the privacy and mellowness that our home offers. There are hikes from our driveway that are not listed in the guide books.

Wide Range of Activites: Mount Desert Island offers a wide variety of things to do, for adults, teens, and young children. Rent bicycles and ride the carriage roads. No cars allowed. Go on a whale watch or sunset sail. Hike the Beehive (strenuous) or Gorham Mountain (good for kids). There are too many hikes to name them all. All that information is on our counter in the kitchen. There are several A-One golf courses, one of course being Kebo Valley (3miles away). Take a kayak adventure with an outfitter, have dinner out at some great local restaurants. There are museums that tell the history of the island and its people and the Acadia National Park offers walks, bird watching, and movies at Blackwoods campground one mile away.

Directions to Brum Chalet: From Ellsworth Maine-Take route 3 thru Bar Harbor toward Otter Creek. Turn left on Grover Avenue. Grover Avenue turns into a gravel road. Follow gravel road to Pooh's Corner, Land of Oz Lane, turn up driveway to first drive #5 you will see Brum Chalet.

We built this house from 1992-1997. It was a labor of love. We thought we should share this home with other folks who want to enjoy Acadia Natl Park

Irene Brum purchased this chalet in 1992

This property is close to everything in Acadia. Also it gives a nice privacy feeling after a hard day hiking or sightseeing or anything else you enjoy doing here on Mount Desert Island.

ACADIA NATIONAL PARK ADVENTURE

  • 5 of 5
We were two couples looking for a comfortable lodge to live in while we explore this beautiful national park by day. We found the Brum Chalet to be all that the listing said it would be. The location was comvenient to the park as well as Bar Harbour. It was very private and quiet. The view from the deck was spectacular. The great room fireplace was delightful to relax by in the evening. The kitchen was spacious and comfortable to work in, but the knives need sharpening! The laundry facilities enabled us to pack less clothing for the week. There were plenty of towels and clean bedding provided. The Brum Chalet was an excellent choice for us and we would recommend it to our friends.

PERFECT

  • 5 of 5
We just returned from our Mt.DesertIsland Vacation. This is the first time we have been to Acadia. Our family of 4 and our dog stayed @ the Brum Chalet. It was the perfect home for our family. The house was clean, had everything we needed. Private and cozy. The fireplace at night was the perfect ending to our day. We ate at the Fish House in Bar Harbor twice, Side street cafe (live music-very cute place)drove off the island and went to the cleanest Walmart I have ever been to. They have everything you need there, full grocery store inside. Went whale watching, rode our bikes, went up Cadillac Mtn for sunset, late at night to see the moon and other times just because the view is breathtaking. Did the ocean trail, which is nice and easy and beautiful views of the ocean, ends @ Otter Cliff where you can get great pictures sitting on the cliffs. Drove Loop Dr and stopped off at many little coves and nooks. If you want a secluded home to stay when you get back from you busy day, this is it. Thanks again Irene

AWESOME - CLOSE TO ACADIA NTL PARK / BAR HARBOR

  • 5 of 5
I have nothing but great things to say about the accommodations and the location. The bedrooms were great, nice size with convenient bathrooms. The kitchen area was very nice with a lot of working space for several people to be in it at the same time. The living space and eating area was great for relaxing in the evening and using the fireplace gave our last night there a real magical feel.

The Brum Chalet was well maintained and clean. The pictures DO NOT do it justice, its a dream retirement home. There is no cell phone service at the chalet, but once you get onto the main road, you pick up service in a few minutes. The only minor complaint/suggestion I have was to get a slightly larger TV and to upgrade the satellite service to include wifi.

You cannot beat the proximity to the entrance to Acadia National Park and convenient drive to Bar Harbor. You're close enough to Bar Harbor to go there in 10 minutes, but far enough away to get some R&R on a nice size piece of property.

ACADIA GETAWAY

  • 5 of 5
This was our second stay at the Brum Chalet. It is a beautiful, clean and well-maintained home that provided a great place for our family to relax after our daily excusions through Acadia National Park. The house was close enough to everything we planned to see but also gave us enough private outdoor space for the dogs to run freely. We enjoyed a carriage ride this year for the first time, did lots of hiking, and had a wonderful meal at the Black Friar Inn in Bar Harbor. This is our favorite vacation spot andwe are looking forward to returning again in the future.

GREAT HOUSE IN A GREAT AREA

  • 5 of 5
The chalet was fantastic! It is exactly as advertised, cozy, clean and beautiful! Kudos to the cleaning crew, by the way. This place was spotless. It is located in a pretty private area, but you are still only about 10 mins from downtown bar harbor which was fantastic! My recommendations are lots of hiking and biking in Acadia National Park, breakfast at 2 Cats in Bar Harbor, and swimming in Echo Lake. We had a great time there for the week, and the weather was perfect. Also, if you want some fresh pork, or fire wood, go to Brown Family Farm which is just about 5 minutes down the street. Chris is great and the all natural pork was outstanding! We had some delicious food at the Fish House Grill(also in Bar Harbor), and if you like Irish pubs, check out Leary's Landing in BH. Small pub that you can easily miss if you aren't looking, they have a very small sign(due to town regulations) but if you find it, this place is great! Pretty quiet, and cool atmosphere. There are also a couple a local breweries, but we didn't go to any because the weather was just too nice and we felt lazy doing indoor activities. Irene(the owner) was also great, she allowed us to bring our dogs, (who LOVED the vacation also) and got us our security deposit refund within 3 days of us returning home! Can't say enough good things about the trip. I will say there is one TREMENDOUSLY OVERRATED place in BH call "Stewman's". Evidently, President Obama ate there once..not sure what he was thinking. Not only was the food mediocre at best, but their staff were RUDE! I would definetley find another place to eat besides there guys. Just a heads up on the swimming, I would avoid the oceans because I am told the H20 never gets above 55 degrees, bit too chilly for me. Echo lake was great, but I would stick to Echo ledges for swimming as the actual beach gets packed, probably because its the only place with the life guards. We want to rent this house again some time for sure! Well worth every penny.
