Jen purchased the home when she was working as a High School music teacher locally. She's since moved onto become a Sommelier, entrepreneur and wine educator. Brent is a tech executive. We live in SF Bay Area but long to return ultimately to live on Lake Morton.
Jennifer Ayre purchased this house in 1995
We love the history of the property - the 'cabin' was the first building built on Lake Morton in the early 1950's. We love how the house is set back from the lake, taking advantage of lake views, providing privacy and a large yard. The original owner was President of the local gardening club so many interesting plants live on the property. Best of all is the lake - beautiful year round.
Given Jen's past in Seattle area and Brent being from Vancouver, BC originally, the home has served as a place for friends and family to congregate and share many a fun memorable time in this special place. We hope you'll enjoy the revamped living space, lake views, deck, yard and lakefront as a stage for your next romantic or social or family occasion as much as we enjoy the home and property.
We stayed at this wonderful house with our daughter, 2 year old and 4 year old grandkids, and we absolutely loved it! First reaction when we walked in the door was perfect! The grandkids favorite part of our vacation was the bunk beds in the bunkhouse, it is like 2 separate houses in one, and is perfect for families traveling with kids. Our only problem was we probably should have picked a different time of year as it was cold and windy and the fish weren't biting, but the weather this year has been cold anyway, surely no fault of the house...it has a very homey, comfortable feel...and the yard...is absolutely gorgeous... picture perfect!!!
We will definitely be back!
This property is exactly as described and absolutely lovely. It was closer to the lake than I thought in would be and the house has really nice features such as an extra large kitchen with top of the line appliances and vaulted ceilings which gives it a very open feeling. The layout accommodated us very well and we had a wonderful Thanksgiving there. I would really like to rent this property again in the summer so we can kayak and canoe on the lake. Thanks for a great stay.
Great getaway for locals. But will definitely rent for out of town guest.
This was our first time staying here on Lake Morton and we had a wonderful time. The house comfortably fit our group and the kitchen was perfect for cooking several meals during our stay. The view of the lake is breathtaking and we loved having the firepit by the water. It is a beautiful house and a great place for a getaway. We will definitely be back to stay sometime soon!
We enjoyed our stay at this house on Lake Morton; this was the 7th year in a row that we've rented this house for several weeks in the summer or fall. We're from MN so we're used to lakes, both in a metro setting and "up north." Lake Morton is close to both Seattle and Tacoma, so you're close to a nice metro area (where 2 ofour "30s something" children live with their wives and young children). Though the lake is completely surrounded by houses, it's pretty and fairly quiet, and our families love to come visit us and be in or on the water, and they can get there easily from their homes. The house has been extensively remodeled since we were last here in Aug/Sep 2012, and it is beautiful inside, and very well-equipped.There's a nice beach area and dock, and a very large yard with lots of blackberries at this time of year.
My family has stayed in this Lake Morton house three times to date. The first time, my twins were only 6 years old and they are now 13 - and they have always enjoyed the house and of course, the provided canoe, kayaks, long-boards and other water toys. This is a place where my wife and I can thoroughly relax while our kids are enjoying the outdoors. The home itself is beautiful and comfortable. The recently renovated living room has a great view of the lake and a fabulous entertainment center. My kids enjoy the bunkhouse, which is separate from the rest of the house so everyone has plenty of privacy. The kitchen is large and well-equiped, and the owners have always been attentive to maintenance, so the home is always clean and fully functional. There is plenty to do nearby. We always have lunch one day at the Space Needle in Seattle, which is only a 45 minute drive, and this year, we toured the Boeing factory (about an hour's drive). We also take a day trip to Mt. Rainier National Park, which is close enough to allow plenty of time to explore the park and get back home for dinner. The lake itself is the best part of our vacation. No boat can travel more than 8mph on the lake, so there is no jet ski or motor boat noise - only canoes, small sailboats, and small-motor fishing boats. I always spend plenty of time in the canoe while my kids paddle the kayaks. Our whole family takes a walk around the lake in the morning and then again after dinner (about 35 minutes around), We absolutely love Lake Morton and Jennifer's house and certainly hope to stay there again soon!
