Covington House Rental Photos and Description

3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, sleeps 2-10

Perfect Washington State vacation / holiday getaway rental by owner in this lakefront setting on Lake Morton, WA near the town of Covington, Washington. This once modest 1950's ranch style home has gone through a massive transformation in 2013. Designed by Matthew Coates Design and constructed by Mehl Homes, it now features modern, northwest architecture living room, dining room and cook's dream kitchen with simple lines, open concept, original restored wood floors and wood-burning fireplace, custom millwork, soaring ceilings, modern lights and lots of natural light and spectacular lake views.

While the home is special, the natural setting of Lake Morton and the property may be even better! 100 feet of your own private beach lakefront and dock and a large yard set on an acre of beautiful, Northwest landscape, with views of Mt. Rainier. The house has two comfortable, quiet and dark bedrooms (perfect for deep, relaxing sleep) plus a connected but separate 'bunkhouse' (fantastic for kids).

Bring work or leave it all behind. Includes a flat-screen TV, cable, DVD movies, music CD's and stereo. If you have to check email or take an important call, you can do so with free WIFI and good cell phone coverage. Best of all, you can do both while sitting on the end of the your own dock on the lake.

You won’t have to be prepared to arrive at Lake Morton, WA. There is Costco, Fred Meyer, Safeway, Walmart, many restaurants, and three (3) Starbucks just 10 minutes away!

1) 'Friends Getaway' – three or four couples or a group of buddies will love Lake Morton, WA for a quick and easy adult weekend getaway.

2) 'Family Vacation / Holiday' - kids have their own 600 s.f. bunk/play room with TV, movies, games, books, crafts and their own bathroom. Plug in a movie or put the kids to bed and enjoy a relaxing evening on the adult side of the house.

3) 'Small Groups' - bring your group to Lake Morton, WA for a quiet and restful getaway, lounging by the lakefront, enjoying the new living space, reading the day away, or just sleeping in.

Jen purchased the home when she was working as a High School music teacher locally. She's since moved onto become a Sommelier, entrepreneur and wine educator. Brent is a tech executive. We live in SF Bay Area but long to return ultimately to live on Lake Morton.

Jennifer Ayre purchased this house in 1995

We love the history of the property - the 'cabin' was the first building built on Lake Morton in the early 1950's. We love how the house is set back from the lake, taking advantage of lake views, providing privacy and a large yard. The original owner was President of the local gardening club so many interesting plants live on the property. Best of all is the lake - beautiful year round.

Given Jen's past in Seattle area and Brent being from Vancouver, BC originally, the home has served as a place for friends and family to congregate and share many a fun memorable time in this special place. We hope you'll enjoy the revamped living space, lake views, deck, yard and lakefront as a stage for your next romantic or social or family occasion as much as we enjoy the home and property.

We stayed at this wonderful house with our daughter, 2 year old and 4 year old grandkids, and we absolutely loved it! First reaction when we walked in the door was perfect! The grandkids favorite part of our vacation was the bunk beds in the bunkhouse, it is like 2 separate houses in one, and is perfect for families traveling with kids. Our only problem was we probably should have picked a different time of year as it was cold and windy and the fish weren't biting, but the weather this year has been cold anyway, surely no fault of the has a very homey, comfortable feel...and the absolutely gorgeous... picture perfect!!!

We will definitely be back!

Owner's Response: We love hearing stories from our guests that have enjoyed our home and property with their friends and families. We have tried to keep the spirit of an older lakehouse with the comfort of modern amenities - all showcasing a beautiful lakefront setting with dock, landscaping, yard and deck that are inviting and relaxing places for our renters to enjoy.

We hope you'll consider staying at Lake Morton.

This was our first time staying here on Lake Morton and we had a wonderful time. The house comfortably fit our group and the kitchen was perfect for cooking several meals during our stay. The view of the lake is breathtaking and we loved having the firepit by the water. It is a beautiful house and a great place for a getaway. We will definitely be back to stay sometime soon!

We enjoyed our stay at this house on Lake Morton; this was the 7th year in a row that we've rented this house for several weeks in the summer or fall. We're from MN so we're used to lakes, both in a metro setting and "up north." Lake Morton is close to both Seattle and Tacoma, so you're close to a nice metro area (where 2 ofour "30s something" children live with their wives and young children). Though the lake is completely surrounded by houses, it's pretty and fairly quiet, and our families love to come visit us and be in or on the water, and they can get there easily from their homes. The house has been extensively remodeled since we were last here in Aug/Sep 2012, and it is beautiful inside, and very well-equipped.There's a nice beach area and dock, and a very large yard with lots of blackberries at this time of year.

My family has stayed in this Lake Morton house three times to date. The first time, my twins were only 6 years old and they are now 13 - and they have always enjoyed the house and of course, the provided canoe, kayaks, long-boards and other water toys. This is a place where my wife and I can thoroughly relax while our kids are enjoying the outdoors. The home itself is beautiful and comfortable. The recently renovated living room has a great view of the lake and a fabulous entertainment center. My kids enjoy the bunkhouse, which is separate from the rest of the house so everyone has plenty of privacy. The kitchen is large and well-equiped, and the owners have always been attentive to maintenance, so the home is always clean and fully functional. There is plenty to do nearby. We always have lunch one day at the Space Needle in Seattle, which is only a 45 minute drive, and this year, we toured the Boeing factory (about an hour's drive). We also take a day trip to Mt. Rainier National Park, which is close enough to allow plenty of time to explore the park and get back home for dinner. The lake itself is the best part of our vacation. No boat can travel more than 8mph on the lake, so there is no jet ski or motor boat noise - only canoes, small sailboats, and small-motor fishing boats. I always spend plenty of time in the canoe while my kids paddle the kayaks. Our whole family takes a walk around the lake in the morning and then again after dinner (about 35 minutes around), We absolutely love Lake Morton and Jennifer's house and certainly hope to stay there again soon!

This was our 4th family visit to Lake Morton and each year, we all want to stay longer. We live less than 30 minutes away, but yet we feel we're truly in a remote lake location. We love the convenience, access and location of the the lakehouse and nearby stores. The accomodations are very clean, spacious and comfortable - the bunkhouse is a plus for families with kids. We appreciate the well stocked kitchen, washer/dryer, etc., all you need to bring is groceries. This visit, the weather was sunny, mid-80's and we loved the improvements to the home (new windows w/screens and fans in each room). Really helped maintain a cool home as there was usually a nice breeze in the evenings. The kids love to kayak, fish, swim and float in the lake and we really appreciate Lake Morton not allowing jet skis or motor boats exceeding 8 mph. If you're seeking quiet lakefront relaxation, we highly recommend this rental property. We look forward to our visit again next year.
