Set in Thornton Gore in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, this four-season log house is rustic and comfortable. It sits halfway up a grassy knoll, surrounded by open-field farm land and the White Mountain National Forest. Johnson Brook runs next to the dirt road. It has an open kitchen-dining area, a large living room with cathedral ceiling and a fieldstone fireplace. This is a non smoking house. In the area: Swimming holes in the river, Mirror Lake, mountain hiking trails. Canoe and fish the Pemigewasset River; bike the valley. Major cross-country and downhill ski centers at Loon Mountain, Cannon and Waterville Valley. In the summer, Loon Mountain provides archery, horseback riding, bicycle rentals, shooting range and more. The North Country Center for the Arts has a summer of exciting plays. There is a two-night minimum reservation.

This was the best time we have spent up north. Yearly we visit going to loon resort, nordic resort, and many other single condo rentals. By far this was the best. The area quiet, peaceful, magical. The cabin to die for. It is everything and more one can expect for a visit to the mountain area. My children who are teenagers also thought it was our best visit thus far. Sixteen years later that says something.

For those of you that have not visited the cabin, let me just say that it is a heartwarming, wonderful escape. My family and friends have been frequenting the cabin for over 10 years now. We have couple's weekend in the winter and we just started a new tradition each year - annual girl's weekend in May. It's warm, cozy, comfortable, serene...absolute beautiful country and away from all the hussle and bussle of every day life. So if you need a break from it all, this is the place to go.

Wonderful Log-Cabin Weekend

We took a group trip up to Woodstock for the weekend. The log cabin was warm and inviting. Next time, we would definitely bring sleds, as there are huge hills surrounding the house. Everything was tidy and in good shape. We will definitely return next year!
