A fantastic home for vacation if u r planning for poconos. I strongly recommend this home. Me and my friends stayed here for 4 days and we had a good time. The rental owner provided all the necessary needs. Thanks to him.
My family has gone camping in the Poconos for many years, but this was the first time we rented a house. We had several things we wanted and needed: a place that would allow pets, a lake where we could canoe and kayak, a place that had a bedroom and bathroom on the first floor, air conditioning, a screened-in porch plus a place to eat outside, an outdoor firepit for roasting marshmallows, and enough beds for 9 people. We found all this and more at this wonderful chalet!
The house had plenty of room for all of us: 5 adults, 2 teenagers, 2 younger children, and a small dog. The kids loved the TV, DVD player, and speaker system, as well as the boulder in the yard where they gathered to play with their action figures. There is a nice sun room/enclosed porch just off the kitchen with a large table where we ate some of our meals and played games. The kitchen also has a table. The back deck (one of three) holds a round umbrella table that was big enough for all 9 of us for supper. There are two grills for cooking (wood and propane) and a movable firepit that the owner helpfully stocked with wood for us. The living room has three couches and one large easy chair, as well as padded coffee tables/foot stools great for lounging or playing games. The four bedrooms with lots of drawer and closet space and two good-sized bathrooms worked out great for our large family. And the wi-fi access in the upstairs loft area helped the workaholic of our group keep in touch with his clients. The central air and ceiling fans offered welcome relief from the summer humidity.
We brought 2 kayaks and a canoe and also used one of the owner's kayaks on the smooth-as-glass lake. We enjoyed trips to the Lehigh-Gorge Trail, a local souvenir shop/petting zoo, and the Boulder Field in Hickory Run State Park.
The landscaped garden behind the house is delightful, and the slate-topped trunk "table" in the side yard is a nice touch. The woods beyond the driveway/parking area are beautiful.
I use crutches and was able to climb the few steps to the front door, although I preferred to enter via the back deck which only has two steps that are easier. The bathroom on the first floor was handy for me, and it was so nice to have a choice of bedrooms on the main level!
Books, DVDs, CDs, games, and linens were provided. The house was very clean, and the decorative accents were nice.
We would definitely consider renting this house again!
We decided on a thursday to take a last minute trip! This beautiful property was ready for us on Friday!!! There was plenty of room for all and games and DVDs to keep the kids busy! We walked across the street to the lake and enjoyed the scenery and playground! Most important the house was clean and convenient to everything ! Would recommend a stay here and hope to return not so last minute!
I booked a ski weekend at Camelback with a couple of close friends and relatives. This house was perfect for what we needed. It was large enough to easily fit all of us (6 adult men) with enough room for several more people. The house was clean and well kept. Having a washer/dryer was a great convenience. The wood burning stove did a great job of heating the house and there was ample wood supplied. The beds were clean and comfortable. All of the bed sheets, blankets and pillows were provided. Having two showers also made getting ready to go out after skiing much easier.
There was plenty of off street parking, which helped out since most were coming from different directions and with lots of gear so carpooling would have been challenging.
We brought a portable propane grill and an electric griddle to cook food so we didn't end up using the grill or range at the house, but they were available to us.
Mobile phone reception was spotty at best in the area, but having WiFi in the house made communicating with our families at home possible.
The lake area is beautiful and great for a hike or kayaking. There are neighbors, but the house has enough property that they are not right on top of you. This was one of my concerns when I was looking at renting from a condo. We wanted something a little more private.
My brother has a dog and being able to bring his dog along was a relief for him (and the dog).
The owners / property managers were accommodating and maintained good communication throughout the rental process. This was reassuring and was one of the deciding factors of why we chose this location over others.
I would definitely recommend this house to friends and relatives who are looking for a place in the area. We enjoyed it so much that we're hoping to make it a regular trip!
Very nice chalet! Went with 10 other people and there was more than enough room to accommodate everyone comfortably. The house had all the amenities necessary for a weekend getaway. Great location only 5-10 mins from Camelback Mountain.
Me and my friends decided to get a decent size house to stay in for Snowboarding/Skiing at CamelBack Mountain. The size of the house from the description seemed perfect and it was! We had a great time hanging out together; drinking and sitting around the fire. The house it only a few miles from the mountain and it was totally worth it. We will be back to rent this house again!
