The Owner purchased this cottage in 2000
Location location location. Only 2 stairs to climb! Well kept and a hidden jewel!
A perfect get away. A cozy cottage in the middle of San Francsico for a quiet retreat....a much needed retreat. Thank you for the wonderful place.
This is our third stay in this wonderful cottage. It has everything we needed, even laundry, and is very comfortable. Having a glass of wine on the deck and watching the hummingbirds in the garden was a wonderful way to spend an hour in the afternoon.
The cottage is immaculately clean and well maintained, and is in the perfect area. Plenty of food and shopping nearby and buses abound to take you to other areas. I would recommend the cottage to anyone who wants to feel like a local for a few days - it really does feel like you're living in the city. Pop out the front gate into the hustle and bustle, but with a quiet cottage to relax in after a busy day in the city.
We stayed during the second week of September 2014. We had such a great experience, I wanted to be sure I wrote a review. This was our first experience with VRBO, so was a little nervous. However, from the very first email communication with owner, it was a completely wonderful experience and he set my mind completely at ease with the process. He had extremely quick responses to all emailed questions regarding accommodations and payment questions. After payment was arranged, he sent simple instructions regarding arrival, key, etc. and a contact # for himself - there wasn't anything that was not covered.
Everything was thought of for this cottage - from free wifi to a kitchen stocked with everything you could need to prepare food! We did not cook there, although I went out and bought coffee and sugar for my morning coffee - and then found those items in cabinet (previous residents probably leave a lot of items) - so I just added to the stock for future visitors! Pay it forward! :)
House is clean and beautiful - from lovely, inviting outside porch to inside the bathroom with gorgeous stand up shower! Bathroom had hair dryer and shampoos under sink (although we didn't need/brought our own) and new, wrapped bar of soap in shower. The bedroom had mirror on sliding closet doors, which was nice to have. We never used the washer/dryer in kitchen, but this is a great benefit, should someone need this.
It is a quiet cottage away from street noise (you actually walk down a path from sidewalk - you first enter the path through private, locked door at sidewalk, then take the little path to the actual house).
TIP: About a 5 minute walk down street to Great Meadow Park in Ft.Mason / which then runs down to Maritime National Historical Park or Marina area. We would walk to this park for our morning (his) run, (my) walk. Beautiful area with trail! Lots of exercising - bikers, runners, even yoga classes going on in morning. Loved it.
This cottage was so cute and quaint and a welcome retreat after walking the streets all day! Felt safe and homey and would definitely consider this place again if visiting SF in future (Knock on wood!). Lovely city! Awesome vacation, made better by these accommodations. Thank you for sharing this wonderful place with others!
(Deposit was sent back promptly upon our departure...)
The cottage was just as it was pictured on this listing and in an ideal location! Nice and quiet street but close to lots of restaurants, etc. This was our first VRBO experience and I can only hope that they will all be this good!
Just finishing my second stay in the Cow Hollow Cottage. Found the setting even better the second time around. Cottage has everything you need for an ideal vacation. And it's Location, Location, Location!!
A quiet sanctuary in the heart of the city, beautifully maintained, with lush plantings surrounding the cottage. A perfect location for access to the great restaurants on Union Street and the Fort Mason Park. We look forward to another stay.
Could not have asked more a comfortable place to call home base on our trip to San Francisco. Between Union and Chestnut Streets, within walking distance, with great restaurants, bakeries, and coffee shops found on both. We were able to walk to the America's Cup action down at the bay. Such a highlight! Queen bed was very comfortable and sitting on the deck with coffee every morning was a huge bonus. So many great restaurants in this city but having a full kitchen to make snacks and coffee was a great to have.
