Blue Skies is a 2 level villa on the north finger of the 500 acre resort of Jolly Harbour. The back patio is on the water, and is a short walk to a smaller private beach. The larger 1 mile long beach with Castaways Beach Bar is on the south finger of the resort, less than a mile away. There are six other restaurants, an 18 hole golf course and a full service marina; as well as, the Epicurean grocery store. The resort is located on the southwest corner of the Caribbean island of Antigua which boasts 365 beaches, one for each day of the year. A car would be needed to get to all the Antigua beaches, and the major car rental firms serve Antigua. If you would prefer staying at Jolly Harbour, golf carts can be rented to move about the resort, and a Hertz rental office can be found at Jolly Harbour. The place was beautiful, nicely furnished, patio overlooking the harbour was nice to sit out on night for dinner. It was well-stocked with towels, linens and they also give you a phone with some credits which was a really nice touch. Good location, 5 min walk to a nice secluded beach although a bit further from Jolly Harbour, 45 minute walk so I would recommend a golf cart.
We enjoyed a wonderful extended vacation at this villa located on the harbour waterway. All amenities are a walk away including grocery store, numerous restaurants & bars, pharmacy, banks, golf course, marina, car and golf cart rentals and the Jolly Harbour complex is well located to all attractions on the island. It is easy to take the public transit although there is no posted schedule so you have to go with the flow! This villa was beautifully presented and clean with all the necessities and then some! The owner is extremely helpful and his management company very accommodating and prompt. They were also very helpful with booking any tours or attractions you want to enjoy. Some of the local restaurants we frequented: Al Portos, Miracles, Sugar Ridge Restaurant, OJ's Restaurant and Bar, the D-Boat in the harbour and Dennis' Café. We enjoyed the catamaran speed boat trip to the island of Barbuda where we visited the Frigate Bird Sanctuary and pink sand beaches. Rented a car several times and toured around the island and hit some awesome beaches. We are coming back!!
Had a great time in this wonderfully furnished villa. I enjoyed the location as it was "away" from the center to provide some "chill-axing" time. Swam on the North Beach in the mornings... at Jolly Beach in the afternoons. You can fill your pockets with shells at the North Beach. Neighbors on each side were wonderful.
I stayed a month here and found that Antigens are wonderful and trusting people.
You will want to rent transportation... I rented a golf cart for the month and traveled the island via their inexpensive bus system during the day. The golf cart allowed me to move back and forth between the North Finger, and Jolly Beach, and everything in-between easily and frequently.
Jolly Beach is a place where you really don't have to leave the area to enjoy a perfect Caribbean vacation with wonderful meals and drinks at ALL restaurants in the marina complex, and West Point, DogWatch, & Castaways, for action. EXCEPT... a wild Shirley Heights on Sunday night... lunch with the smiling Irish lass at Bambula in St. Johns, Trappa's dinner in English Harbour, and Carmichael's across the highway, above Sugar Ridge Don't forget to get to Barbuda... pink sand beaches are a must.
Cannot say enough about HBK's Romeo and Sandra accommodating your wishes, and just being helpful.
Deep sea fishing on the boat "On the Edge" was wonderful with Mike, Cindy, and Capn. Paul.
SO... GO... HAVE FUN... this villa was perfect for what I wanted.
Really nice villa fully furn. HBK staff are really nice and Jolly Harbour is a nice place to be! Beautiful view from the balcony! We really enjoy our stay there and Antigua is a paradise Island to discover! Don't hesitate to rent a car so you can go and visit all the beautiful places on the island.
This was a well-maintained villa in a lovely development called Jolly Harbour. The villa itself is comfortable for at least four (and can accomodate 5). It is well set up for breakfast and lunch (and has a great patio overlooking the water) and we even had several dinners. The beds were very comfortable. The roads in Antigua are tricky (poorly maintained) and with left-hand drive, we tended to stick close to the resort at night but found a number of good restaurants either in or near the resort.
We traveled to Antigua over New Years and has a fabulous time. The villa was very clean and safe. The bed was comfortable and the view was very pretty. We also enjoyed the food, beach, and staff. We would go back agian! John was easy to get a hold of and very personable over the phone. He also has a wonderful neighbor that lives there most of the year. The information and recommendations were very helpful!
