CASA ADORE' (The Endearing One)

This cute and cozy three-room territorial-style adobe is classic Old-Santa-Fe. Built in the 1930s for his family by the late 'adobero' Jose Antonio Dominguez, this 770 sq foot home blends historic hand-crafted Dominguez furnishings with earthy international decor and contemporary museum-quality paintings. Eighteen delightful custom wall colors integrate the historic home. Entry is into a spacious, light-filled country kitchen with its pine plank flooring. The pass-through living room/den with its original viga-beam ceilings has two beautiful old storage 'roperos' - (armoires) . The bed-bath suite with its historic turquoise viga-beam ceiling and pine flooring has oriental rugs, Mexican writing desk & other antiques and art.

On the outside, a street-side, wisteria laden, wood portal frames the territorial style windows with traditional lace curtains. Casa Adore' is buffered from street activity and is entered from the internal courtyard. The Compound is just three blocks (a five minute stroll) to the Plaza and five blocks to art-studded Canyon Road. It is nestled into the wooded knoll that overlooks the historic Santa Fe Plaza. Aside from its easy accessibility to all Santa Fe has to offer, the Compound's great appeal is its quiet privacy, its unique colors and decor.

Guestbook comments from the owner
A mere "Thank You" certainly seems inadequate for the kindness and hospitality shown us by you three. Our stay in Casa Adore couldn't have been more comforting; nor better medicine for our very souls. Love,

Casa Colores

  • 3 of 5
A group of five women spent five days in April at Casa Colores. Overall we were happy with the location and the booking and arrival process. Do not be fooled by the pictures...the kitchen and bathrooms are very old and tired. They provided four rolls of toilet paper for five people over five days and expected us to purchase our own after that. I prevailed upon them a three more rolls were delivered. The beds in the front bedroom need to be replaced. The others are fine.
We also rented a house in Sedona and there was no comparison.the house in Sedona had a modern kitchen and bathrooms and many other amenities.

Great Location and Value

  • 5 of 5
My time at Santa Fe was made even better by staying at Casa Adore'. The property gives you the experience of living in one of Santa Fe's historic homes and offered every amenity I needed. The property has a great location just off a quiet road. Casa Adore' is located walking distance from the Historic Plaza and Canyon Road and offers easy driving access to all of downtown Santa Fe. Noel and Christa were friendly, easy to work with and very responsive to all my questions. I would definitely recommend staying at one of the homes on this property.

Santa Fe lodging at its authentic best

  • 5 of 5
In between two separate different family gatherings, we had three very helpful refreshing nights and days at Casa Adore. It turns out that this casa is the smallest of Russ and Noel's collection of eight. At almost 800 square feet, however, it was wonderfully roomy for just the two of us with a large farm-style kitchen, comfortable study and queen-sized bedroom. Plus a full bath and a half. All of it was adobe casa architecture at its authentic best with delightful, comfortable furnishings, many of them old pieces. Noel's large scale contemporary geometric art was a great counterpoint. Be sure to at least scan her published book about her experiences on a local reservation learning weaving from an indigenous tribe. We also enjoyed our small, private outdoor sitting area with a B/Q. Two things that added to our enjoyment were Russ' personal attention and our chance to talk with him about his life-long international experiences. (Unfortunately, only had a chance to meet Noel.) Plus being within walking distance Santa Fe's Plaza and Canyon Road, the world-famous several-mile long collection of art galleries.

Just lovely! Wheelchair accessible!

  • 5 of 5
We had such a lovely time in Casa Adore. We were warmly greeted by Noel and enjoyed getting to know a little about she and Russ. Amazingly, we have common friends--the southwest may seem wide open, but it's a small world!

The space is beautiful and had everything we needed for a 4-night stay. Could easily have stayed longer, and have dreamed of downsizing our lifestyle to a space much like this casa. The bed was very comfortable and we slept very well--we were even visiting during fiesta days, and the loud celebrations were over by 10pm, so sleep was restful. The shower was bright and cheerful. Enjoyed sunny mornings at the kitchen table or out at the courtyard table.

We must mention that we contacted every "wheelchair accessible" listing on VRBO within our price range. It turned out that although several are on the first floor, many did not have bathrooms or doorways that could accommodate a wheelchair. We called Noel for details, and Russ immediately rushed over to measure doorways and check other details. The main living spaces are ideal for a wheelchair user who absolutely cannot stand. The bathroom is a tight fit for the chair, but it works; note-we brought our own shower chair, and slideboard, and the shower head is standard height, rather than removable or on an adjustable arm. And there is a slight lip to enter the front door, but was manageable with a tiny boost. For those proficient with wheelies, it would be no problem. The gravel driveway was probably the only challenge without pneumatic tires, but again, we made it work.

Whether traveling with or without a wheelchair, we really enjoyed this place, and would rent again if we're traveling without our cats (hint, hint---if cats are added to the OK list, we'd be even MORE likely to return!) Highly recommend!

Frequent visitors to Santa Fe celebrating our 45th anniversary.

  • 5 of 5
Just as the ad says, a charming "authentic Old Santa Fe" house with an easy walk to the plaza, restaurants, museums, shopping, and art galleries. We have visited Santa Fe many times, but this was our first stay in a rental home and we are glad we did! There are many great hotels in town but there is something special about having your own place to kick back after a long day of sightseeing. An added bonus is getting to chat with the owners--Russ and Noel--two charming, friendly and talented individuals. Two thumbs up for Casa Adore.

Turning 60 is not Easy! But Casa Adore made it GREAT

  • 5 of 5
My wife Julie and I wanted to find some place special to celebrate my 60th birthday. We found Casita Adore to be the perfect fit. We took our mountain bikes with us and between the bikes and the Casita being so close to everything, we did not even use our car. The Casa was well equipped, comfortable and great atmosphere
Fun times and good memories and Kelly helped by getting us settled in and pointing us to the best spots.
We will be back!
