An Enjoyable Stay for Several Days

  • 4 of 5
I would recommend booking this condo; it is good value. Well above average and the owner was interested at all times to be sure the booking and the stay ran smooth. Owner was easy to get a hold of and replied quickly with the needed info and help. The setting is very nice and the condo is located at the base of the slopes so walking was very convenient and close to other small towns for car trips during the day. It looks like the condo association is upgrading the common areas of lawn and buildings. Yes, there was some carpenters working on balconies and sidewalks; but it was not noisy or offensive at all. The workers went about their work quietly and they were friendly and made an effort to stay in the background. Frankly, I saw the carpenters working as a good sign; not a nuisance. The unit itself was clean and had all the pots and pans in the kitchen needed for meals if you want to cook in. The bedding was fine; so were the beds. Dresser drawers, etc. This condo is a floor unit with windows only on one side; the other side abuts to another floor unit and the back is into the base of the mountain. So inside lighting could have been better. Ceiling lights and some floor lamps were in the unit; maybe a bit more would be helpful. The days and nights were quite hot during the stay so we used a floor fan that was in the laundry room to push air from the living room slider into the bedrooms for some extra ventilation. The washer & dryer worked fine, as did the dishwasher and other appliances. Not a TV watcher so cannot speak to what channels or reception is there. There is limited WiFi in the unit; I used my cell phone as a hot spot instead and it worked fine. As best I can tell, while these guest reviews are helpful to other potential guests; I believe the owner is the type that also will use them to make his property better with each guest stay. That's a good sign and part of the reason that I can recommend this condo and this owner as a safe and enjoyable stay with good value.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your comments, Brent. I am always looking for ways to improve a renters stay at my condo and you provided some logical feedback. In fact, Lowe's is scheduled to change out the bedroom rugs this week and I have a painter coming in to paint each room the following day. I will be buying new lamps for better lighting for sure.

“Extremely Stressfully Bad Experience ”

  • 1 of 5
We were unexpectedly woken up early in the morning after our very first night stay by a knock on our door from a construction worker who wanted us to turn on the water switch inside for him to access the water outside and then we heard continuous loud jackhammer noises shortly thereafter as they were building a deck up above us.
Then the tenants above us continuously made extremely loud noises of all sorts from morning until night, and i first called owner of our unit that we are renting from to let him know of this problem with the upstairs tenants, and i suggested first that he call them to resolve this, and he agreed to, but then about an hour went by and still they were noisy as ever so we went up there to tell them ourselves again and still very noisy and this went on entire time we were there and so each night we had to go up there to tell them to be quieter! and so the upstairs tenants loud noises from early morning till late at night as well as the construction workers noises were very intrusive making it very uncomfortable for us to just enjoy spending the day in our unit.
This is a bottom first floor unit in which the entry door is on the side of the building, and so the front of this unit faces another building. There are sliding glass doors next to the entry door and the living room is first thing you walk into after openning front door. There is one window in only one bedroom in which we could not open. The other bedroom has no windows nor does the bathroom or laundry room. There were no outside chairs to sit on on the small entry porch.
It was not a short walk to the main street of town as it took us approximately a good half hour or so to walk to, thus approximately a mile away or so it is.
Also, internet service was very spotty thus not reliable.
The shower liner in the bathroom had black mold on the bottom corner of it grossing us out when we wanted to take a bath.
Majority of television channels came in fuzzy.
The sheets on bed were rough.
We had a very stressfully bad disappointing, experience!!!!

Owner's Response: This particular renter was difficult even before arriving at my property. From time to time, this happens. They had a tough time following the simple arrival/departure instructions that I emailed and explained numerous times. I must have received a dozen calls with complaints and questions throughout their stay. I'm more than happy to take any renters calls and to assist when there is an issue. Yes, there was some construction on the decking of the building (neighbors condo) the weekend they arrived. I was not informed of the exact dates but after the fact, management told me it was only during the week, not on the weekends, which meant only one day out of her three night stay on the property. Furthermore, I received the call from Heidi about the noise upstairs at 6:50 PM Thursday night. I did contact the owner and she notified her renters to quiet down particularly around 8 PM. Some of these scenarios are out of my hands but the dirty shower curtain and sheets are just false. I have an excellent cleaning service and rotate new sheets in the unit every season. I do not advertise that I have internet service and told Heidi this on two separate occasions when asked. Frankly, this was not a nice experience for me or my neighbor as well. Lastly, I gave Heidi a nice discount on the rental fee which I rarely do, but it still wasn't enough. As I said, some renters will find anything to complain about but I never like to hear that someone had a bad time in Hunter and at the condo.

Quaint, Well-kept, Loved it!

  • 5 of 5
This is a very nice condo, right on the slopes of Hunter Mountain. It is as described and pictured, so there were no surprises. My family and I have 3 kids ages 3,5, & 7 and we stayed for 2 weeks comfortably. Matthew was very friendly and easily reached by phone. He stayed in touch to make sure everything went well.

We have a lot of family in Tannersville, so that is where much of our time was spent, but staying a few miles in Hunter at this condo was well worth it. It was so nice to have nice clean accomodations in the mountains.

We'll be back!
